Well I'm just starting the game, but have no idea how to deal with all of the monsters, how do you get meteorite shower/starburst?
I kill them.

PetrusOctavianus: I kill them.
Hard to when you get gang raped by a million of them.
The beginning of 6, you will have: Goblins (the worst of which is the King); Spiders (Giant, I think is the worst); Cobras (Queen), and Mages (Apprentice, Journeyman, and Mages).

At the beginning you should have one bowman at least, a cleric, and a sorcerer.

Hit Wizard Eye, and see if you see red dots, this will happen approximately when your warning light goes from Green (safe) to Yellow (caution). Let the first wave come toward you. Don't go after the entire group. If too many, kill what you can, and then back up. Try to get as many with arrows as possible.

Early spells that are a great help: Fire Bolt (Fire Arrow sucks); Sparks (great for the spiders and cobras).

The cleric will be busy healing, the warrior and/or archer will be shooting, and the sorcerer(s) will be hitting with fire bolts. If you keep the enemy coming toward you, that should be enough to clear areas of enemies.

Also, have you check the fountains. One will give you some added muscle.

Hope this helps.

Step one in dealing with monsters: get bows. Many monsters do not have ranged attacks, especially at the beginning of the game, so being able to pick them off from a distance is invaluable. Show the letter you started with to the shady guy in New Sorpigal's inn for some cash, travel to Castle Ironfist (walk west along the road, or take a stagecoach ride from the stables), show the letter to Regent Humphrey in the castle itself for some _more_ cash, and then poke around the town. You should be able to purchase membership in the guild that teaches bows, the bow skill itself, and bows for the entire party. Then you can go back to New Sorpigal and start picking off monsters from a distance.

Step two in dealing with monsters: get better spells. Cleric types should aim for Expert in Spirit Magic early on (requires rank 4) at which point they can affect the entire party with Bless. It's a nice accuracy boost. Once you have some more spell points to work with, you should also grab Heroism, a Spirit spell that increases melee damage. Sorcerer types get area damage from Fireball and Ring of Fire and a damage (attack rate, really) buff with Haste; all three spells are in Fire Magic, and you should check the Fire Guilds in Mist and Free Haven for these spells once you get there.
Bows. Get bow skill for EVERY party member. I recommend turn-based combat for someone just starting. Hit [Enter] when the monsters are still at quite a distance from you and then just pick them off one by one with your bows as they advance towards you. Monsters without ranged attack (which is most at the beginning) will mostly be dead before they reach you.
Thank you for the help guys. It got frustrating continuing getting killed right at the beginning. lol
In the outdoors areas and some interiors Bows + Strafing + Real Time = winning combo.

There is a tricks that allow you to start at HIGH LEVEL! Use other walk through for more info.

- get the letter mission and deliver it at castle ironfist. also talk about the lord kilburn shield.
- clicking at a building somewhere will get you a fly spell. just in case.
- use the money to hire a GATE MASTER.
- use the money to hire a horseman / stable master (that let horse travel faster).
- while you are here. RUNS toward the oracle(?) on top of the mountain. talk about pilgrimage.
- teleport to Silver Cove and do the stable mission. Use combination of horse travel and sleeping at inn (since gate master and cast once per day, and if you travel via horse to other location you can't travel to, it will reset).
- whenever you are at free haven, do the mission that force you to talk to a person at a tavern (I forgot what is was). but it was a promotion. also drink for might fountain.
- as you collet the horshoe to do the stable mission, distribute it between your magic and the other character (the last 3 and 4 if you play normally). use it to be an expert in merchant (the character with self magic) and water magic (for the other character).
- once you completed the stable mission. take the money.
- fire the horseperson and hire a merchant / duper.
- travel to mist and ask for promotion (drink magic well). Use this opportunity to travel to Bootleg bey, to drop a statue (which you can bpick up in darrkmoor(?), do the strength pilgrimage, and drink from the magic well. also drink from permanent well here. BOOM! Your strength is now +10.
- you can train your character now (do it in new scorpigal - cheap). You should be able to go to level 13 or something. Study bow. buy the best one in white cap (+7 damage).
- make you secondary character expert in diarm trap. buy a glove (or whatever) of theivery in your travel (i hope you found one in your travel - I always do). if you have the fly spell (from new scorpigal) or own the book, this is where you do the lord kilburn sheield. just fly towards the chest aond don't bother fighting the wolves. press enter to enter single mode, shoot arrow away to have a turn on your "theivery" person. open the chest and pick up everything - including the shield. teleport to safety (new scorpigal. since you'' be riding horses to castle ironfist).
- train yourself again. by now you should be able to master in water. buy town portal. buy lyod beacon. if you have fly spell, then do the winter mission (it involve just talk).
- before you fire your GATE MASTER, read the list of permanent fountain. use FLY to get there and then teleport yourself to new scorpigal (in order to heal youself. specially from the fountain in whitecap and blackshire(?).
- become a master in merchant (use item that +charm to boost your character to +30 personality).

by now you are good to go.

TIPS
====

- as you do the travel mission. buy ingredient and potion from magic shop and the other shop. they refill in 24 hours, and you need it to make the black potions.

- the fastest way to clear a dungeion is a combination of town portalling to new scorpigal and lyod beacon to the safe location in the dungeion. you only need 10 gold to refill health and mana from new sorpigal temple. always refill while you still have enough mana to town portal. and keep 'beaconing' deeper into the dungeion. you can also easily sell your treasure in new scorpigal.

- since you are master in water. buy enchant item. buy good weapon, enchant them , and sell it back at new cost. the same with other stuff. if you got lucky with awesome enchantment, keep it.

make another character to be expert in water - just for having days of beacon - and emergency town portal.

- if you think you are good enough. Hire two navigator (or whatever that make walking via map faster) and do the obbelisk mission. use combination of town portal, beacon, and travel via edge of map. besides, do the same for the chest.

- in dragon sand. just fly up high, fly toward the bonus thing. touch it, beacon it, and teleport back to safety (new scorpital). there is also two permanent fountain there I think.

as you do most of above, your character is now high powered. drink all the black potions.

now do the rest of the missions. it won't be hard now :-)
Don't be afraid to run away, it's no shame in M&M. If you have problems then run, rest and fight again. Repeat.

Also, seek out low level enemies first, then go to difficult dungeons. You have to travel a bit, do not try to do all dungeons in one map, some can be very hard!

Thank you. When I got this pack close to when I joined gog, I mostly played 1 through 4/5. Seen the ammount of monsters in 6 and was like "oh.....shit."

The use of Lyod Beacon and New Scorpigal church(?) also helps. Only 10 gold for health and mana per person.

Focus on the objective, not the enemy. For example using the fly spell you can complete the lord kilburn shiled mission without fighting the werewolves at all - which almost un-escapeable by walking. The same with statue mission.

There was a mission that involve in getting a round object (forgot what) in a location where there is a lot of hard monster (also I forgot what) which I mostly solve by running around, hide in a corner, and cast lyod beacon a lot (and town portal to new scorpigal to refill mana). So you doesn't really need to kill everything in a dungeon.

There is a trick that allows you to get good equipment at the beginning of the game, wich will surely help with all the baddies. It involves the NWC dungeon.
(the equipment you will get is "low level", but it will help a LOT at the beginning.)

First, you need to give the letter to the man in the tavern, and to the man in Castle Ironfist to get cash.
Then click on the left wall of the bank in New Sorpigal: you get a hidden fly scroll.
Hire a gate master. (costs 2000, if you save-reload the game the job of NPCs will change, keep on trying until you find a gate master)
Fly onto the northern roof of Buccaneer's Lair in New Sorpigal, then turn south (be careful: the dragon tower will shoot fireballs at you, so be very careful when fying).
Switch to turn based (this is EXTERMELY important. If you dont do that, you will die in 1 second.)
Press space, and you find yourself teleported to Dragonsand.
Cancel turn based, and RUN into the left side of the altar in front of you.
Switch to turn based again, touch the altar with every character, then turn around, and click on the wall: you arrive in the NWC dungeon.
Loot it, than use the gate master to get back to town. Don't use the door, it takes you to the dragons. (The squares on the top of the desks are chests too)

I always start MM6 doing this, it gives a nice starting equipment+stats from the altar. With this, the beginning area of the game is easily manageable :)
