I installed this game on Windows 8 and when I try to launch it the screen goes black and nothing happen. I'm forced to reboot the system (even the keyboard doesn't work anymore, so I can't just close the application).

I remember on another computer with Windows 7 worked fine.

What I tried:

- I already tried to reinstall it.

- It's installed in the "GOG games" folder (not in the Program Files)

- I tried to execute it with Win7 compatibility mode

- I tried to select the option "software 3D" instead of "Hardware accelerated 3D"


My graphic card is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970.


Do you know something else I could try? :(

ok, I think I solved. It was my own firewall that was blocking the game :) I added the game to the firewall rules and now it works fine. Sorry for the thread.

actually it was weird because my firewall (Comodo Firewall) usually asks me everytime I launch a game and so I never had problems with other games (but on this pc I always played only Steam games till now).

It asked me with this too and I said to allow it but somehow there were others .exe files that were blocked (the game seems to use 2 different .exe files) so that's why the game was not launched correctly.

Once I allowed both of them on my firewall, the game worked fine. And I don't need any compatibility mode or software 3D acceleration.

by the way, I take advantage of the thread to ask if you suggest to install patches or mods for this game, or if the vanilla version is better.

I saw in other threads that people speak about this GreyFace patch, but I saw it's unofficial. Does it really improve the game?
