Hello. Is the MIGHT AND MAGIC® 6-PACK LIMITED EDITION just the basic games of M&M 1-6 without the expansions? There are so many M&M games I'm not sure which to get. Ideally I'd like the expansions eventually too.. Can I buy the limited edition and then later add expansions for some of these? I have M&M 10 (steam version) and it's awesome. It also came with 6, but I haven't tried that one yet. Thanks!
There are basically no expasions for these games (aside from World of Xeen, but that's included), so go ahead and buy it if you want, you'll miss nothing.
LIMITED EDITIION refers to a special release of Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven, which included a cloth map of Enroth, a strategy guide and the first five games of the series on CD-ROM.
Back in the days it was normal to put all the content into the games instead of removing parts in order to farm extra cash with expansions.

With the 6-Pack you get everything the Might and Magic series has to offer until part 6, including the rare fan-made Swords of Xeen.

It's kind of weird though; when I look at the product description it doesn't say anything about the expansions.

When I click on the complete versions of 4, 5, and 3 it mentions expansions that the limited edition doesn't mention:

(For the complete editions below:)
○Includes Heroes of Might & Magic III and its expansions: Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death
○Includes Heroes of Might and Magic 4 and its expansions: The Gathering Storm and Winds of War.
○Heroes of Might and Magic® 5 Bundle includes Heroes of Might and Magic® 5 and its two expansions: Tribes of the East and Hammers of Fate.

The Limited edition just states:
The pack includes the first six games from the Might and Magic series: Might and Magic: Book 1, Might and Magic 2: Gates to Another World, Might and Magic 3: Isles of Terra, Might and Magic 4&5: World of Xeen, bonus adventure Swords of Xeen and Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven ○Might and Magic® 6-pack: Limited Edition now includes the full speech versions of Might and Magic® IV & V: World of Xeen!

I'll probably just go with what you said though. Thanks.
"Might and Magic" and "Heroes of Might and Magic" are different games.

Thanks. :) I don't know why I didn't figure that out myself, but that might and magic part in the title on both kind of threw me off. :)
World of Xeen was never sold as an expansion. It was originally an option included in the Darkside of Xeen installer. The CD-ROM releases have the games already combined and do not require either separate game. GOG includes both the floppy and CD versions of World of Xeen.

You'll see a similar absence of expansion mentions on GOG games that originally got extra content as part of a free patch (e.g. Deus Ex) or retail re-release instead of an expansion pack.

That said there are some games on GOG that do not have their original expansions. GOG has added some of these later on (at no cost to prior owners) but there are still some games with missing expansions.

They're both connected and made by the same company, the story is interconnected in both series, however one is a party-based RPG and the other a turn-based RPG strategy. That's why they both start with the number 1. As for the story, starting from MM6-9 the story connects with HOMAM 2-4 (HOMAM5 and onwards was made by another company, as was MM10). But not so much that you'd have to play either in order not to miss stuff, it's more of an interesting and fun carryover (eg. in HOMAM2 you can fight under Roland or Archibald in the campaign, while in MM6 and 7 you can meet Roland's family and visit their castle, or read Archibald's journal).
