I have searched the web and GOG seems to be the only place that will get the rest of the series. I have already played and beaten MM6 three times since I downloaded it (Played MM1 - MM5 once) and that is just too much hack and slach. So I am writing this to vent my frustration.....YES! I AM THAT GUY......and right now i'll take anything. When are they getting MM7 - MM9!!!! Anybody know? Anybody heard any rumors? Does anybody want to take a guess?
My guess is that there is a small possibility that Ubisoft may release the remaining M&M games with a coinciding release of Heroes 6. I could be wrong, so your alternatives are used game shops or eBay.

That, or when they start to get more lenient with DRM again. But coinciding with Might & Magic: Heroes VI (No idea why they changed the formatting of the title) would make sense.
I actually enjoyed Heroes of Might & Magic V, so I'm hoping the Heroes VI is a good game.

Not with the DRM it's got on it right now! I think I'll wait until HoMM6 becomes a GOG.

Have you tried the Realms of Arcania series yet while you wait for the next release? (It's better than MM anyway IMO),
You've beaten the game three times? I've played it over 200 hours in the last 12 years to reach the end of the game (still not won)...
Somehow, I doubt we will see Heroes IV or Might and Magic VII-IX on GOG for a while. If you want to take a legal route in obtaining them, I recommend the internet (Amazon, Ebay).

You could probably get them for less than $10 at this point, although VII is the only one that I would personally recommend. VIII is kind of weak in spots, and IX is a game that, even with the fan-made patch, never rises much above mediocre.

You'd have thought that with tens of thousands of sales through GOG which they otherwise wouldn't have made, Ubisoft would be happy to supply the last few classic M&M titles. But no.

I'm seriously sick of Ubisoft. I'm sick of their backward attitude to DRM. I'm sick of their use of the M&M brand to sell us boring games with nothing to do with the continuity of M&M. I'm sick of waiting for a proper RPG from them. I hope they close down soon, and that the M&M brand finally passes to someone with some vision.

Somehow, I doubt the 3rd largest publisher in the world is going to close down anytime soon. And somehow, I doubt they will dump the M&M license anytime soon. Basically, if you want to pin your hopes anywhere, pin them on all the soon-to-fail fan-made projects by people just as disappointed by Ubisoft's treatment of the franchise as you. Some people are making their version of M&M X using the VI-VIII engine. Sure, it will come out when hell freezes over, but it's happened before.

In any case, I stand by my statement that the only good game in the series that GOG doesn't have yet is VII. And it will come. Eventually.

Their last annual financial report wasn't too good. However, I guess the wider implications of Ubi closing down would probably be only bad news for gamers.

Yes, I've been keeping my eye on that MMX project. It would be nice to think that might someday be done...

Honestly I have accepted that the glory days of M&M are behind us. Those of us who fondly remember the old RPGs are becoming a smaller and smaller market, and to be honest I think I'm prepared to let the series end for me with MM8. "Tell [the Ancients] I have failed..." I'm sure Ubi will be the last active owners of the brand.

A fair statement, and one I won't disagree with. VII was a great game. VIII was an average game. I played IX for an hour and gave up in disgust .

The largest problem with Might & Magic 8 is that there are multiple design choices that really unbalance the game. Dragons and Cauri are the two most unbalancing aspects, but there are others as well.
I loved M&M VII more than any other game I have played, I think, so I would love to see it in a Vista-compatible version. I have the CD, but it won't run on my new computer...
MMVII seems to be vulnerable to the same MSS32.DLL problems that MMVI is. I've actually found it easier to install on newer systems than VI or VIII, although they all seem fairly fickle when installed from CD. The gog games are actually the only ones I've had install immediately and without hassle since windows 98 died, and I really hope that GOG does release the latter games at some point.

I managed to get the game running on my Vista 32bit machine. you just need the un-official XP patch to get it running. just google search for "Might and Magic 7 XP patch" and you should see where to download it.

Really? All I had to do was set compatibility to Windows 2000 (maybe XP worked? Can't remember) and it worked just fine, with the same OS.
