How do i return to middlegate from sandsobar in might and magic 2?

I assume that you teleported there? The teleportation services work like a loop, so in Middlegate there's a teleport to Sandsobar, and in Sandsobar there's a teleport to the next town (I forget which is next), and so on. So if you keep going, eventually you'll get to Atlantium, and then from Atlantium you can teleport back to Middlegate.

Of course, you could always just leave Sandsobar and walk back to Middlegate, following the roads. But you might run into tough monsters that way. It's cheaper though.

I don't remember: do you pay for the teleporters? I seem to recall that you do and that the price goes up with each new city until you loop back to Middlegate.

No! You don't have to loop all the way. There is a teleporter directly back to Middlegate.

If you want, I can spoil you directly the location, but he's not that difficult to find, so you search every square till you find him. If you still can't, I'll give you the exact location.

The towns indeed teleport in a loop, but it's bidirectional. So you can go

-> Middlegate <--> Sandsobar <--> Tundara <--> Vulcania <--> Atlantium

In fact I just realized, that if you teleported from Middlegate, you should appear exactly on the space that takes you back to Middlegate. Just make sure you're facting the right direction!

Oops. Sorry for the bad info! I didn't remember that (or possibly I never figured it out?)

EDIT: I'm pretty sure you do pay for the teleporters, and it does increase in price for each new town. But it seems my memory may be a little unreliable.

You're right about payment.

As for portals, you must have forgotten. Hey I only played it last year and I was about to confirm your post, before I remembered that portals go both ways :)
