Bought it here on gog. I run win 7 64 bit. General specs: amd phenom II 965, Amd 6870, corsair vengeance 8 gig ( if its of any concern).

When i try to run the game, it shows the IWD2 icon at the bottom of the screen and the cursor starts to do the " load animation". After a few seconds, the cursor stops to "rotate", the icon is still there but nothing happens. Theres just this " invisible" square in the middle of the screen where my cursor disappears whenever i hover into it. No game sounds are heard and no other signs of "life" either for that matter.

Tried to run in xp s3 mode, uncheck the admin/scaling boxes among other solutions that i can't seem to recall atm.

Anyone else who ran into this specific error when trying to run the game?
1. Where is it installed to?
2. Do you have antivirus active?
3. Do you have any mods installed?
4. Have you ran Config.exe inside the installation folder?

1. my gog folder on the non-os disk.
2. tried deactivating avg free.
3. just the vanilla.exe from gog.
4. what should i change inside of it?

For the sake of testing put in the same as in this image. If that doesn't help, you could try windowed mode (in the third tab), just to see if it's full screen that's the issue. Be sure to press 'Ok' to populate your ini file.

Sadly, it remains the same..

Hmm, then I am stumped. Hopefully somebody else can offer something that I have overlooked.
Nevermind. Read in the support section of GoG and found out that you just had to force directdraw in an included (but hidden) file in the game folder. Thread solved.

Inside the Icewind Dale installation folder there should be a file called 'setup-ddrawfix.exe'. Run it. If it isn't there, you can download it here.
