Bob7522: So I'm going off the assumption that a lot of the new traffic here is from Mandalore's new vid but I digress

I had the same issue of not having the mod initialize on launch. Did all the troubleshooting and the like. What I didn't realize immediately is that the install folder is not "\GOG Galaxy\Games\Homeworld Remastered" but is actually "\GOG Galaxy\Games\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM" There definitely should be a folder in there already titled DATAWORKSHOPMODS. Just have to put the 2.3PlayersPatch folder into there. Don't know why I didn't realize this earlier, I think end users are just dumb.

As for the launch path not being found, I think the best solution is to navigate to the folder where the .exe is located, and copying the file path from your file explorer into the target/start in lines. Being sure to add /HomeworldRM.exe to the end of the target line. Having a different install location would most likely be the issue of this, otherwise it would be some sort of misspelling in the target line. Better to copy it from the source than write it in yourself.

Hope any of this helps. I'm gonna go play this now I think
Yeah, I'm here because of Mandy. I don't really play RTS games but the deal he had was really good.
I've done what you've recommended and the game launches now, but I'm not sure how I know the mod is running. Is the main menu screen different than using the launcher? The screen I have now doesn't have a planet in the background, is that correct?

Hold on, im VERY new to anything involving messing with files, what is the .exe file i'm looking for to copy the target line into?
Thought I had it, but no. I hope all the traffic Mandalore brought attracts the attention of the mod's creator!

see ive done all that but it still didnt update the game to 2.3 which is what has been giving me strife
Perhaps someone can make a tutorial video explaining how to get the mod working? All of that folder talking is gibberish for me.
Had a similar issue that the game simply would not start with the 2.3 Player Patch but only show the 2.1 patch in the bottom right.
My problem was that I had posted the DataWorkshopMODs folder directly into the "Homeworld Remastered" folder - that is not enough! You have to go one step further and go into the "HomeworldRM" subfolder and paste the DataWorkshopMODs folder there.

This may seem obvious but took me 2 hours of staring at my Shortcut paths to figure out where I had messed up.
I just updated the ModDB download file to include shortcuts for the new GOG Galaxy installation path, rather than the old GalaxyClient installation path. To install, see the ReadMe for the latest GOG Instructions or Wine Instructions. If your using the standard GOG Galaxy installation path, the shortcuts won't need to be edited.

Shortcuts
For reference, the shortcuts for the standard GOG Galaxy installation path are below.

Homeworld RM Multiplayer Players Patch
Target:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release\HomeworldRM.exe" -workshopmod 2.3PlayersPatch\2.3PlayersPatch.big
Start in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release"

Homeworld 1 RM Campaign Players Patch
Target:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release\HomeworldRM.exe" -dlccampaign HW1Campaign.big -campaign HomeworldClassic -moviepath DataHW1Campaign -workshopmod 2.3PlayersPatch\2.3PlayersPatch.big
Start in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release"

Homeworld 2 RM Campaign Players Patch

Start in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release"

Q and A
@TheFeri @memedealer03 @Omermer12 @Joraki-Raider - Download the updated files from ModDB and follow the updated instructions in the ReadMe.

@laughingskull - For your custom installation path, you can use the following shortcuts to play the Homeworld 1 RM Campaign:
Target:
"F:\GOG\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release\HomeworldRM.exe" -dlccampaign HW1Campaign.big -campaign HomeworldClassic -moviepath DataHW1Campaign -workshopmod 2.3PlayersPatch\2.3PlayersPatch.big
Start in:
"F:\GOG\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release"

@Themanwithapan - I'm not sure why you can't get past the splash screen. I'd suggest trying to delete your HWR profile (C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM\Bin\Profiles\Profile#), or try reinstalling HWR and the patch.

@OhYeahCta - See the GOG Troubleshooting steps here.

I am having an issue with the audio. When I launch the game with the patch on, the dialogue and click effects do not play. I can't find any solutions elsewhere, and restarting does no lt help. This is the only mod I have installed too.

Additionally, the ships will not move when ordered. I can select them, and choose a location as normal, but when I give the order to move there nothing happens.

This is for HW1R.

@Chris9qn - See the GOG Troubleshooting steps here . You probably need to re-install the game. If your still having problems see the Audio Issues section of the Master Troubleshooting Guide. Also disable any graphic overlay software: MSI afterburner, ATI afterburner, Raptr, Overwolf, AMD gaming evolved, GeForce Experience, Windows game bar, Steam Overlay, etc. These can cause mouse click issues.

I might be a little late but thank you! I was sitting on this f***ing thing for more than probably 10 hours! you made my life better by so much. Hope you Succeed in life or something!
For me, in the campaign, the build menu does not show up.
I think I installed it perfectly so I'm kinda lost.
@Omermer12 - Thank you!

@LordLix - See the ReadMe: "Game saves from one version/build of HWR should not be loaded on another version/build as they often cause issues (like the build menu not opening) or do not work at all. However your mission progress is kept across versions/builds. You can play any mission from the start using the Players Patch or HWR v2.1, and your latest persistent fleet from the prior mission will be loaded."

hello, I have strange behaviour using Multiplayer Lan : When Vanilla, just after selecting LAN the whole game hang (does not respond). When using 2.3 players patch, the screen became black and seems to refresh. Anyway i can not use this menu with 2.3 or vanilla. Anyway the behaviour changes. Do you have any information about this problem, do you try to solve it (or it is just a side effect of the patch)?

I tried, disabling IPV6, activation netbios, disabling other net interfaces, with no luck.

I managed make lan menu work using the 2.3 player patch, using keystrokes (enter) while mouse is stuck. It can takes 10 min but when this menu is passed (i host the lan game), the following menu (player selection) (and the game itself) is working fine.

If think it's "only" a UI bug linked the this error i have in the log while choosing lan menu.

parameter: attempt to call global `SetTacticalDotScale' (a nil value)
stack traceback:
1: main of string "SetTacticalDotScale(1.0 );" at line 1
2: function `UI_DialogCancel' [C]
3: main of string "UI_DialogCancel();" at line 1
No mapping for font 'Blender' - using 'default'

@stepfr - Lan works fine for me in vanilla and the patch. I do not receive that log error. That log error may be harmless, however it can probably be cleared by going to Options->Gameplay Tab->Adjust "Tactical Dot Scale"->Apply. Could also try creating a new player profile.

Clearly there is a larger issue with your PC that is preventing Lan from working properly. Might be router settings, anti-virus, or something with your PC. I'd guess you have some sort of graphic overlay software that’s causing the problem. See the Master Troubleshooting Guide for things to try and bump that thread if it helps.

@cloaked: thank you, this patch saved the good memories I had of this game
