It bothers me that Keiichi never considered this. Or did he? If taking Satoko in would've been such a massive financial burden for his family, then who financed her needs when she was with Rika? Was Rika rich, or was it the old lady? But then what would've prevented them from continuing to support Satoko, even if she lived with Maebara's family (or anyone else for that matter).
Maybe Mion's and Rena's angry response regarding pushing responsibility on others made him not even want to consider it, but it's still weird that he never really turned to Rika for help. Rika of all people should've been able to offer her support or at least give some good ideas. She'd been basically looking after Satoko for a year..
Maybe Keiichi just didn't get as far as considering Rika before he abandoned the whole idea of taking Satoko in. (That one also bothers me somewhat..)
Speaking of Mion and Rena, what was up with them? To me it felt like there was some deeper meaning behind their sudden and fiery outburst, but after finishing Chapter 3, I think that one went unanswered. Maybe they were just not behaving well under stress, and maybe their behavior reflected Keiichi's anger, but even so it felt like there was supposed to be greater significance to their behavior. As if they knew something Keiichi didn't. Well, they did know things, but what they knew was related to the child welfare affairs in the past, and not the questions Keiichi was throwing around...
Well, this is the first chapter where I felt like nobody was really thinking straight.
