Hi, I was planning to buy the HOMM2 gold version on this site but I just found out its the DOS version? Can somebody tell me what the differences are between the DOS version and the windows version? I really want to get the game and I am hopeing the differences are not to huge or big a deal.

Thank you.
The Windows version has proper multiplayer options. I think that's the main difference. There may be some minor presentation differences as well.
Thanks for the answer. I was not really intrested in multiplayer, just to play single player. What about the music? Will I still get CD quality music with opera? Or will I get Midi style music?
GOG's HoMM2 includes cd quality music, and they're apparently working on updating the music files because of a few audio errors. The audio errors aren't much more than some pops and clicks, I think.
One thing that applies to all DOS/Windows differences: You can't run DOS Apps on 64-Bit Windows (no 16-Bit Apps supported), so you have to use DOSbox which GOG usually provides. DOSbox is rather spotty though (e.g., the Might and Magic RPGs run awful).

Not sure if the Windows Version of HOMM2 was 16 or 32-Bit though.
Thanks for the help all. Gonna be getting this game now :)

If you have the latest version the biggest problems are nonexistent. And the old version (edit: by which I mean the gog.com version, 0.73) works fine with heroes I and MM2-5.
