Hi everybody :)

So here is my problem : I've installed Windows 8 and I have Heroes of might and magic IV Complete, but when i launched the game i heard the "3DO" , main menu music but I can't see anything because the screen is completely dark.. I tried to use "compatibility" and administrator but it seems that it doesn't work :/ anybody knows how to fix it ? Thanks :)

I have solved my problem :
Right Click on yourgame.exe > Properties > Compatibility > Execute with a resolution of 640x480
and it works :)
Thanks for the feedback, that might be helpful for others too. +1
Man you're awesome

Hah, quick google search and this topic pops right up, solving my issue in two seconds. Thanks a bunch for posting!
I have had the same problem. My fix was to simply Alt-Tab out of the program, and then return to it. The reason I'm posting to this thread, though, is because I have a problem that's possibly related. I'm running Windows 10, and the game locks up when I try to run battles. It's only occasionally, and seems to mainly occur when I have a long battle, but not always. Anyone know how I can prevent my game from locking up on me? I run the game alone, shutting off all foreground processes. There are, however, things running in the background (antivirus, Google Music Manager, Steam, RealPlayer, etc.)
On Windows 10, add Heroes IV to your antivirus'/firewall's exception list, and then set it to run in 16-bit colour mode instead of the 640x480 mode. (Same applies to Windows 8(.1)).

The game needs single core processor affinity.

Does Avast have an exception list? The freeware Avast is what I have, and I haven't been able to find any exception list. Let me look at Windows Firewall, though. And I'll try 16 bit.

It's been a while since I used Avast (since it's far too paranoid for my taste), but it should have an exception list (named differently at worst).
