...at least he posted it at the bottom of a 4 page thread about non-specific Gothic game mods instead of making a new thread where other people would see it.

Hallo,
I'm hoping to get into this game, but am facing problems getting it to run.
System:
Win7 32 bit
i5
Radeon HD 7900
DX11
Status:
Gothic runs without modifying any settings.
Have applied resolution fix (my screen is 2560x1600). Crashes at startup with following error:
X: XD3D_InitPerDX: Can't create D3DX context ! Error: DDERR_INVALIDOBJECT
Once I get this working I intend to install player kit & texture patches & FPS fix.
EDIT: Ok, just discovered that the max res is 2048x1536. Game works with that setting, but is only taking part of my screen. Anyone know of a way to go past that res, or at the very least, stretch it across my screen?
EDIT 2: I ended up setting the resolution to the nearest neighbor under the max res (2048x1280) followed by opening Catalyst Control Center > My Digital Flat Panels > Properties, under Image Scaling check "Enable Scaling" & select the option "Scale image to full panel size". Hope this helps those in need.
I'm gonna apply the other patches now.
EDIT 3: Well, it's working great. I'm thinking I'll ditch mouse controls in favor of full keyboard. I still have 2 problems though:
1) I cannot see my health bar
2) When I open my inventory, all I see are all the items' 3D models stacked glitchily on top of each other & covering the item description box, which itself goes a little beyond the bottom of the screen.
Any suggestions?

copy gothic.in gothic.ini /Y
gothic.exe
exit
Save this as gothic.bat (all file types) in the same folder. Launch as normal.
1) Open gothic.ini.
2) Scroll down pretty far, almost to the end, and look for a line called ExtendedMenu.
3) Change ExtendedMenu=0 to ExtendedMenu=1.
Now the game will allow many more screen resolutions right from the in-game options, and it won't change your gothic.ini file if you set it to a larger resolution. I use 1920x1200.

I think this should be mentioned by now Gothic System Pack
It features many fixes for the Gothic 1&2 in one package. It is compatible with the GoG version (at least G2, as I test it with it) and it works pretty well. Especially the higher draw distance do look really nice :)
I will just copy'n'paste the feature list and install instructions here ;)
Main modifications:
• Package Adaptation for work with WinXP, WinVista, Win7, Win8, WinBlue;
• Package Adaptation for support of "GOTHIC1", "GOTHIC2: Classic", "GOTHIC2: The Night Of The Raven" considering all changes and corrections;
• Automatic dynamic memory and system files patching for all versions of supported games;
• Surround sound system integration - X3DAudio - for all versions of supported games;
• The package uses own *.INI file with partially modifying internal options for all versions of supported games.
Graphics:
• High resolution support;
• Adjusted FOV Hor+;
• Increased world, NPC, portals render distance;
• Balanced correspondence of map sides;
• Ability to shut off LOD;
• Fixed bug with disappearing objects/models when turned on tesselation.
Stability:
• Increased min texture cache threshold;
• Disabled odd stream for resource manager;
• Disabled cache unloading when minimizing the game;
• Modified low FPS and showing window frame in full-screen mode on Windows 8 and 8.1.
Video:
• Modified scaling duplication in video playback;
• Disabled limitation video file resolution.
Sound:
• Surround audio support on base of X3DAudio/XAudio2.
Virtual file system:
• Highly increased game start and load speed.
Other:
• Fixed problem of game start on Windows 7 over rundll32.exe;
• Fixed problem of game start over Logitech SetPoint driver;
• Fixed problem of camera hitch and disappearing textures on NVIDIA cards;
• Disabled FPS limitation;
• Repaired options of F8 key in test-mode MARVIN;
• Game starts in 32-bit color range;

Use Gothic 2: Night of the Raven guide instructions. As far as I'm aware it's not even possible to get install the classic Gothic 2 with the GoG installer.
It definetly worked here ;)
If you need further help I will do my best, but I should strain that I'm not the creator of the mod/fix and therefore can't help with in depth problems :/ ;)

The links to the gothic 2 Ironkeep community patch in the OP seem to be dead, but I managed to track down a torrent, so if it helps anyone, you can get the torrent here

Need to install: G2NoTR-SystemPack-1.0.exe
For Gothic1: PlayerKit ver. 1.08k
For Gothic2: GothicStarter ver.2.6f
Then the button will become active.
And do not be lazy, read the installation instructions.

Which mods would you recommend to include with the entire Gothic playthrough
(i.e., which mods for Gothic 1, Gothic 2 Gold, and Gothic 3)?
Is there a list of Gothic mods on GOG ...as far as I checked I did not find one
...I'm looking for ...sort of a complete mod (compatibility) list or similar.

AFAIK no.
WoG.com has been closed, but you can post in English on the German or Russian forum of World of Gothic.
