Thanks! I will try the mod out. I like, that besides rebalancing that seems to be the major aim, it also strives to fix some known bugs in the vanilla game such as the dialogue option to let Lares escort you to certain places disappearing.
Oh, and make sure that you also visit german mod section of wog as there are waaay more mods released in german than in english. In some cases they are perfectly usable with english versions (texture replacers and such).

Nice JI. Gothic II is on my to buy list.
There is a nice texture mod for Gothic 2 in the wog german section called Sumpfis texturpatch 1.0. It's almost 400 mb download and takes about 700 mb space unpacked. The difference is not that dramatic, since old textures were used as a base, but it does look better in my opinion. The only bad thing about that pack is the installer that does not recognize at least gog version of the game. If you have 7-zip however you can unpack the installer and put the .vdf file manually in the data folder. I recommend that mod to anyone with a modern graphics card.

Does anybody have a zip version of this texture pack? I downloaded the .exe version, but it doesn't want to install with GOG's version of the game...

Have you tried changing the install path to a desktop folder? Probably you can then move the textures manually.
no, the installer specifically searches for the Gothic II exe, which is not the same than the GOG's version... So, wherever I point the installation path, the install button remains grey.

As tolknaz mentioned, use 7-Zip to extract the EXE's contents as if it were a ZIP; you don't need a separate ZIP version.
