So, this is weird.

I currently have a notification telling me that there are sync issues due to heavy load, and that cloud synchronization will restart the next time I launch the game.

The problem is... The game is not cloud synced.

Or, well, the checkbox that says "sync local saves with GOG Galaxy cloud" is not selected.

Why is Galaxy complaining that it cannot sync a game that it's not supposed to try to sync?

How do I tell Galaxy to stop alerting me about a problem that does not exist?

Edit: And of course I mess up the one thing I cannot edit. The subject was supposed to be "CLOUD sync issue" not "could sync issue". Though I suppose it's fitting - symmetrical, if nothing else: "warning: could sync a thing I was supposed to sync" is the mirror image of "warning: could not sync a thing I was not supposed to sync"

Can you share with us the name of the game?

Star Trek: Bridge Commander.

Then it happened again with Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.

I even disabled syncing entirely from the general settings, but the error is still there.

You can try to upload the saves to the cloud, then delete the saves locally and then sync them (make a local backup first).
After doing that you should be able to completely disable the cloud sync without any error popping up.
If that doesn't help just get in contact with the support team, I'm also having problems with that feature.

There are no saves. It's a brand new installation, and I never played the game before.

There is also no way to acknoledge/dismiss the error.

Galaxy is... Not the best tool I've ever seen.
I've run into this issue once in the past, shortly after installing Galaxy on my only Windows PC. Support was useless, having me jump through a bunch of hoops, and never fixing the issue. I gave up on cloud sync at that point, and just turned it off completely. The error remained.

The fix for me was to uninstall Galaxy completely. I then rebooted (just in case), and re-installed it. I immediately turned off cloud sync before doing anything else with Galaxy. I then shut Galaxy off, started it again, and continued my usual configuration.

I've seen no such error since, so I killed cloud sync during both my Galaxy installs under Linux as well. If I want to use my saves under Linux, it's easy to just copy them over my network.
