I just made a new account on my 2nd Computer (which used to have GOG Galaxy so the old settings are probably lurking there somewhere) to buy a 2nd copy of Steel Division 2 so guests could play it with me when they visit, BUT I am getting the same error that was reported almost a year ago on AUGUST 31st 2022!!! This is insane GOG, get your s*** together.
Same issue here.
3 computers in same house - desktop PC with Windows 10 OS, 2 others - laptop + desktop PC running Windows 11 OS.
On the Windows 10 OS PC, all fine. CPU is Intel Haswell, Core i3.
On both Windows 11 computers (one with Ivy Bridge CPU, one with a mobile Haswell), GOG Galaxy client always & invariably fails with this error?!
Running it again changes nothing, still crashes. Restarting the computers also does not help.

Any plans to fix this?

Please note competitor client apps all work fine, i.e. St***, Batt**.net, Ro***ca*** and so on.
Only GOG Galaxy client fails.

Getting this exact error, and nothing fixes it. Rebooted, reinstalled GOG Galaxy and even tried on another drive with a fresh Windows install ...

Are you on WIndows 10 or Windows 11, please?

Same here (Win 10 x64), but for me, the issue was tied to my VPN, and I was able to fix it by excluding the communication service executable (C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists\GalaxyCommunication.exe for me) from my VPN app via split tunneling.
I got the problem after the last Windows 11 update.
Resolved it by adding a new firewall rule for the communication service executable (C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists\GalaxyCommunication.exe).
I beat the error by logging into my administrator account and installing from there (instead of installing on my non-admin/regular account and right-clicking to install as admin).

same here: on MacOs Ventura: tried everything (erased every previous installation and preferences, ecc.). Have only one account, Admin, but in the past had another one, deleted; I fear that the bug starts from there...
Same problem for me. Which programmer thought it would be a good idea to force close the galaxy launcher - even if there is no online connection, that makes no sense.
