Hello fellow GOGers, as the thread title implies - Winter is coming, the long evenings and nights where a look out of the window will give you a chill.

We already lost one member(looks around, looks under the desk, look through forumposts - no, no TinyE here) to the slow falling white devil. And with snow and the early nights we know what is coming...yes, werewolves. Who is coming forward to defend our GoG village against this evil?

If you like recommend me a good werewolve movie - It has been quite some time I've seen a fresh one come out - the Wolfman remake was the last I saw.

I'm in for Sang-Froid - Tales of Werewolves. I can't recommend any werewolve movies, unfortunately I haven't seen any, but I would like to know what movies you enjoyed.
Great game! Not in. I enjoyed a Christina Ricci werewolf movie. It was probably crap, but I was in the mood for a werewolf movie and it worked for me!

Let's see it has been quite some time I watched a werewolve movie:

- American Werewolf in London was quite good. It has that epic transformation scene with that rock song playing why the transformation takes place and the movie has quite some humorous scenes.

- I liked the Underworld movies also a lot, although they are not classic werewolve movies, they take place in a White Wolf World of Darkness like setting, where werewolves and vampires fight each other with big guns.

- I watched Wolf with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer, but did not like it that much.

- Red Riding Hood did suck a lot.

- Ginger Snaps, was also a good movie. About a schoolgirl that gets infected and changes slowly.

- But there was a movie , I had to google for it, The Company of Wolves made in 1984 by Neil Jordan, that is also a good one. I takes also a lot from the Red Riding Hood story.

- Dog Soldiers a quite good B-Movie.

That are the ones I can remember.
I'm in.
I'm not in but will recommend Silver Bullet(1985). Thanks!
I am in. I have not seen a good werewolf movie in years. Appears that zombies are all the rage now...
Not in.

I don't know much about werewolf movies, but as for games there's an old DOS adventure game called Wolfsbane, where the player has suffered a werewolf bite and has one in-game day to find a way to cure it. It's not a particularly good game, though, because it has a bad combat mechanic.

Nice thread idea, I approve of werewolves/ werewolf movies. *howls at the moon*

I watched a fairly recent one some time this Halloween. It's a Spanish production, as far as I remember, English title is "Game of Werewolves". More of a comedy, but also has some gore and action scenes -- very entertaining overall, so I recommend it.

I might be able to suggest another, just have to look through my collection first. Sadly there's not many ( good ) releases in this sub-genre.

And thanks for the give-away, but I already own the game here on GOG. Probably going to download it next month, in time for Winter, and finally give it a try. :)

( Ya think TinyE is currently fighting off werewolves in the real world? Er, I mean... in Canada? :P )

Werewolfs?, my kind of thing, well that besides robots that shoot fist and Bronson
I will defend GOG and I'm in. Thank you!

Some variant of the wererwolf theme also keeps popping up in the TV-series Grimm. You might like it.

NOT IN. +1

Thanks for the giveaway MaGo72! I can't remember any werewolf movies except "American Werewolf in London" which was a great movie...As for the Red Riding Hood I really liked the atmosphere but as a movie it wasn't very good.. Cheers!
Who doesn't love a good werewolf movie. The biggest problem is that vampires and zombies are usually easier to do makeup for so werewolves get stuck at the short end of the cinematic stick. I'm not sure what kinds of films you normally like or which you have already seen but here are of few of my favorite werewolf films.

An American Werewolf in London - It's so classic that it's become a cliche, but for good reason. The normally comedic John Landis gave a few new twists on the classic werewolf tale. My favorite parts were always the conversations between the wolf and his ghost friend. I was about 8 or 9 when I first saw this film, I laughed, I cried, I had nightmares, so it has a special place in my heart.

The Howling - The othe classic werewolf movie staring Dee Wallace (the mom from ET). This one was always memorable to me because it had a surprise/twist ending that people in the 80's never saw coming. By today's standards it's the type of ending you expect from these type of movies, so watch it with an open mind and a sense of nostalgia

Dog Solders - Often called the Aliens of the Werewolf genre, this early Niel Marshal film centers on a group of soldiers who stumble into a group of werewolves while out doing training in the woods. I really enjoyed this film personally because it was the first time where, when I yelled at the TV the characters actually listened. Normally in horror films the characters behave completley different from how I imagine myself to in a similar situation, such as passing by easily improvised weapons and exits to go hide in a closet. There were several scenes in Dog Soldiers where, looking at the scene I knew what actions I would take and then the characters did exactly what I was thinking.

Wolf - This is a different kind of werewolf movie that relies a lot on psychological reactions and symbolisim. For example the sets have a lot of bars to sort of symbolize the idea that the main character lives within a cage, he even wears a lot of striped clothing. Throughout the film is a constant allusion to Jack Nicholsons character being trapped or confined as a human vs the care free life of the wolf. It's not your typical horror werewolf, but I still kind of like it.

Out of curiosity, has anyone seen Werewolf: The Beast Among Us? It looked interesting from the trailer but trailers have lied to me before.
Not in, but thanks for the GA :)

Werewolf movie.. werewolf movie... Oh, how about Twilight? ;)

Ok, ok, seriously, there is a Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode that lambasts Werewolf, a 1996 "movie" that features Martin Sheen's younger brother, Joe Estevez.
