Eador. Masters of the Broken World, Etherlords 1&2, Blitzkrieg Anthology 1&2, and more 50% off!

If USSR still existed we're pretty sure its economy could largely depend on game development. There are so many talented people in Russia and former Soviet republics, dedicated to creating complex and solid games, that if the Soviet Union still existed this part of industry could become huge--if only the communists in charge were actually interested in economic development. Let's play a little make believe: imagine a Soviet Empire built on the foundation of gamedev studios, producing top-quality strategy games. If it was preparing to take over the world, the first step would surely be a [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/soviet_strategy_strike_260713]Soviet Strategy Strike. Today, we offer you a taste of the imaginary Soviet Strategic Total Warfare, with a 50% discount!

Eador. Masters of the Broken World is one of the biggest, toughest, and most extensive turn-based strategy games in history. It takes all the complexity you would expect from a 4X game (that is: eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate), adds some extra challenge, extends the gameworld beyond measure, and finishes off the mixture with some top-notch dreamy graphics. The game faced some issues upon its release, but ever since, the developers worked towards squishing all the bugs and implementing even more features. This is the first time you can get the game 50% off on GOG.com. At $9.99 this game quite probably the best value for your money, when it comes to hardcore turn-based strategic gameplay!

If fantasy isn't your thing, you can still get your share of turn-based goodness mixed with real-time gameplay in a captivating Sci-Fi setting. In Altar Interactive's UFO series you'll be commanding a squad of special force operatives facing alien menace in tactical combat. Drawing inspiration from Microprose original X-Com games, those titles deliver their very own variety of terrifying extra terrestrial threat. Witness the entire interplanetary conflict from the first days of the invasion to the final strike against the aliens in three gripping iterations. You can get UFO: Aftermath for only $2.99, while UFO: Aftershock, and the concluding UFO: Afterlight are available for only $3.99 each. Don't miss your chance to defend the Earth!

That's but a small sample of what game the full Soviet Strategy Strike delivers 50% off. Direct yourself to the promo page, for the full varied and robust offer! The promo lasts until Tuesday, July 30, at 3:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!
I am unable to purchase from this offer via Paypal - can someone please tell me why?

The issue was fixed, thanks.

Does anyone have opinions on:

S2: Silent Storm Gold Edition
Star Wolves
Heroes of Annihilated Empires

Good, bad, part of a series not on GOG? I'm on a bit of a strategy game kick, but I'm not very good at it (yet), so any dummy friendly suggestions at all would be most welcome. =)

Star Wolves has a couple of sequels as I recall, haven't really played it.

Silent Storm is a must for anyone that likes small squad tactical games, and its engine is the greatest asset. Almost everything is destructable. It may get a bit weird during the endgame due to specific enemies you'll encounter, but there is a mod to disable those.

I recall reading very good things about Heroes of Annihilated Empires, but haven't played that one either.
How did I miss Blitzkrieg? I love all those type of games but I've never played this one and the demo rocks. Is there some reason this has never been pushed on me before? Is their some nasty surprise, like as soon as you actually pay for the game it turns into a gigantic piece of shit? I feel like I'm being set up here. :P
Bought "Eador, Masters of the Broken World".

Skipped "Cossacks" and "American Conquest", as I have them already from DotEmu (including Cossacks 2, which for some reason is still missing in GOG).

All others I have from GOG already.

About Star Wolves : a very nice game, if the setting and genre appeals to you, you'll probably like it. I know I did, with a bid drawback : some boring waiting time - travel and repairs can be slow. And about the serie, the 2 is globally regarded as a poor sequel so you should have no regret for not having it on gog (I havn't played the 3).

Silent Storm is a nice game too. Anyway, there aren't so many good recent turn based games out there, and it's one of them. On a "dummy" perspective, it's easier and less overhelming than Jagged Alliance 2 for example. And destroying buildings was cool, if a little "cheap" sometimes. The "coolness" factor made it a very pleasant game.
Damn, bad time (wallet broken), only game , what I want is Kings Bounty Legend. Next time I buy this game.

Pm me, if interested.

P.S. I've traded with 10+ maybe 15+ people by now.

Star Wolves ROCKS.

So I keep forgetting that I have the UFO series here. I seem to remember back in the DRM fun days it came with StarForge or whatever that awful software was called. Are they worth it? I never actually got to play them a long time ago.

ShadowWulfe: Are they worth it?
See post 38. Feel free to ask for more clarifications, though I played Aftermath and Afterlight only once, back when they first came out. Aftershock I have a bit more experience with.

JMich:
Thanks!

I'll have to try them out at some point it sounds like. I guess they're not as X-Com-y as Xenonauts.
any must buys here? i don't know much about these games

Xenonauts is a remake of X-Com: UFO Defense (or UFO: Enemy Unknown, depending on country of origin). It tries to keep most of the things the same, with the change of UI/controls and air combat (though there are obviously more changes). If you want to play an X-Com remake, then it's Xenonauts you want. UFO:A? are different games altogether, though still fun :)
Strategists at GOG must be beside themselves with happiness.

Good promo :)
