Shadow Warrior, Serious Sam 1st,2nd, Unreal games, Blood series, and other action-packed shooters 50% off

This weekend we thought we might throw a [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/fps_weekend_promo_240513]FPS Flashbomb your way. Don't worry--we do that with no intention of injuring you. It's all fun and games after all. Shooting virtual guns at digital living things (and on-screen mechanical foes) is satisfying and entertaining. That's a fact no one can ignore. That's why the First Person-perspective Shooter genre (commonly abbreviated as FPS) has been popular ever since it began, and it looks like it's not going to lose its charm to gamers in the foreseeable future. With fast and action-filled gameplay these games offer, every second of talk is a second wasted, so let's get fraggin'!

So what's in the FPS Flashbomb, you might ask? There's a nice piece of the genre's history in the form of Catacombs Pack if you want too see how it all began. Then, witness how it evolved and got really bad-ass with Duke Nukem 3D Complete Edition, and how it kept on throwing one-liners with Serious Sam: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter. Witness how immersive things got with Unreal Gold, and how competitive the genre has become with Unreal Tournament 2004 ECE. Or maybe you just want to have some gory and politically incorrect fun? We've got you covered Shadow Warrior is here as well.

Enough talk, let's shoot somethin! Head out to the promo page, to see all of the great FPS games we offer 50% off until Tuesday, May 28 at 3:59AM GMT.

Tarhiel: What do you mean, "new one"? There´s new Shadow Warrior on the way?

Smannesman: Yep, the guys from Hard Reset are working on it I think.
So far there's only a CGI trailer though.
WHAAAT? How come I do not know about this? Oh, my goodness, you, sir, just made my day! :P
Gotta look for the trailer :)

time to complete the selection with Catacombs.
you just sold me Catacombs! Too bad it doesn't contain the original game: Catacomb
Nice promo :D For those of you interested - Serious Sam 1, Blood 1, UT2004 and Unreal Gold are all must-buys.

After the trouble we caused with the Wizardry threads, I am taking a little break on bumping the threads for a bit.
Of course, I have started writing a blurb for Chaos Overlords, so if I do see the thread empty, I may just post that. But I've promised G-Doc I'd be nice....
Stop making me willingly give you all my money.

Who, me? lol

I wasn't aware of Catacombs somehow. That sure has caught my eye. I forgot to check if it is for Mac too but as an MS-DOS game I could grudgingly make it work myself with Boxer. :D

It's funny how you think you've got everything you want from the catalog and then new surprises still spring up like Catacombs.

EDIT: It IS available for Mac! Yes! How cool is that? Well, very if you are a Mac user who loves FPS games.

GOG gets me again. I swore after buying Wizardry 6 & 7 and 8 that I'd take a break from buying games but no! I cannot resist a cool classic for Mac. Thanks GOG!

My wallet's always happy when I look one of these weekend promos over, and see I already have everything I want off it. Yayyyy, more beer for me! ;-) Nice promo for those looking to pick up some great games...go get 'em!
I have two principles regarding FPS purchases:

- Must not buy multiplayer-only FPS games (I only play multiplayer that comes as free extra, or is free-2-play).

- Must not buy FPS games older than Doom, e.g. Wolf3D engine games. They simply aren't worth it anymore.

So, must stay strong not to buy the Unreal Tournament or Catacomb games this time either... All the others I have from GOG already. EDIT: But I am still a bit interested to check out the Catacomb games, but I recall I considered them too crude even back in the day.

Serious Sam First and Second Encounter games are great even today IMHO, but I'd really love to see GOG get the HD remakes and newer SS games here too (even if it means without Steam-bound multiplayer). Still resisting buying them from Steam deals.

I don't know about UT1, but I know UT2004 has a single player campaign. It's basically the multiplayer game modes with bots, but you can manage your team as you go. It's not very deep, but it is one-player.
Every time I try to play ut04 I keep getting the same few mostly empty servers on the list. The ones that aren't empty just play that same old boring map over and over. Is there a way to get to more servers that I'm not aware of?
Yeah, i'm getting Catacombs just for it's historic value in FPS. Plus it was developed by the trio of Carmack, Hall and Romero.
