Sure the statement has been pumped up in the media, but the news are far from being a hoax. They don't seem to be comfy with the combination at all.
They still believe Win 8 is a security risk when paired with TMP 2.0 chip as it makes the computer 'unstable' and could cause a security issue whereby 'third parties' could access your computer or tablet. No guessing who the 'third parties' would be :)

1. German newspaper Zeit is not yellow press, but considered as one of the reliable nationwide weekly newspapers
2. The German Federal Office for Information Security doesn't say it's a hoax at all, they're just saying that their warning is not in general, but only for certain users (everybody who doesn't fully trust the provider).

Just to clarify BSI's (Federal Office for Information Security) statement, here the original of one of the key sentences:
"Aus Sicht des BSI geht der Einsatz von Windows 8 in Kombination mit einem TPM 2.0 mit einem Verlust an Kontrolle über das verwendete Betriebssystem und die eingesetzte Hardware einher."
Source: https://www.bsi.bund.de/DE/Presse/Pressemitteilungen/Presse2013/Windows_TPM_Pl_21082013.html
Quick translation:
From the perspective of the BSI, the use of Windows 8 in combination with a TPM 2.0 is accompanied by a loss of control over the operating system and the hardware used.

And when that debt ceiling gets increased, which it will as America has only two choices -- keep printing money, which they are doing, to keep pumping money into the economy as without it the US economy is dying, OR increase the debt ceiling so they can take on more debt. And who buys the debt and extends loans to America? CHINA
Educate yourself or you start to sound stupid.

China buys American treasury bonds so they can 'loan' the US a trillion dollars (currently). America continues to go into ever increasing debt. Due to the treasury bonds being issued, the American dollar continues to be devalued (it should be a lot higher than it currently is), which also plays right into the hands of the Chinese as why would they want a strong American dollar against the Chinese yuan?
This gives the Chinese more economic power and more buying ability and thus allows them to buy even more American companies, property, gold and silver bullion etc. (why do you think the American government has been bitching about the Chinese yuan being 'too low' for years? But weirdly, it's America's fault. If the US government didn't keep taking on trillions of dollars of new loans from the Chinese, the Chinese yuan wouldn't be so low).
Now. The Chinese currently owns about 9 percent of America's debt and it's still climbing. If they suddenly decided to call in their chips, which they could depending on what international event backed by America pisses them off, America's economy would collapse like a deck of cards. Thus......benefitting the Chinese even more.
Right now, because the US is China's number one importer, it's not likely to happen. Should the US economy massively falter and Americans are no longer buying the huge amounts of Chinese products they currently are but continents like Asia, South American and Europe are , it's no longer any benefit for China to hold huge amounts of US debt. So....they call in their debt. The US has no choice but to pay it, or be declared persona non grata by much of the rest of the world. Result? A worse recession for America than in the Great Depression.
While this is all simplistic and the real situation is much more complicated, scenarios like those I mention could happen. Meanwhile the US government keeps borrowing more and more money from the Chinese (and the Japanese) thus not only devaluing its own currency, but also allowing foreign countries like China and Japan to buy up American assets at rock bottom prices.

Now, everybody can draw their conclusions. As the BSI says, if you trust your software provider, this isn't to be seen as a problem. But they also state, that in certain scenarios extra precautions should be taken. For me as an interested person, the question arises, why?

The NSA currently says in the last year they took about 53,000 pieces of email from unsuspecting Americans. Nobody I know believes that. They haven't offered any proof and just pulled what looks like an 'acceptable number' out of a hat, as the NSA has done nothing but lie about what they've done, even including in front of Congress, for the last several months.
First it was, no we're not spying. Then it was, well just a little bit but only with court orders. Then it was, well...in some cases we don't need a court order because of a loophole in the change of law in 2011. Then it was....well, only 53,000 pieces....etc. They are liars, and, as always they will be proven to be so.
I'm interested to see what The Guardian comes up with next as Glen Greenwald, the journalist whose boyfriend was illegally arrested in London last week and had his computer, tablet and flash drives stolen by UK police, has now vowed he's going after the UK and the US with a vengeance and there will be a LOT more information published from what Edward Snowden has given him.
Could be interesting :) Although unfortunately the poorly educated and gullible will still refuse to believe it or make excuses for it, even when it's staring them in the face.

"Rasterfahndung" (dragnet investigation) was introduced to fight the Red Army Faction (RAF; Rote Armee Fraktion in German), a left-wing terrorist group.

Don't know why I've remembered that name for decades. They used to talk about the Baader-Meinhof Gang all the time on British news when I was a kid :) Couldn't tell you what they did, but I've never forgotten the name.

I actually look at it like the last throes of a dying empire. Same thing happened with the Roman Empire, the Greek Empire, but......they collapsed anyway. America and its UK puppet is now heading the same way, so things will likely get a lot worse before they get better. More and more spying, more and more restrictions, more and more arrests -- until......they collapse completely and the rest of us can happily get on with our lives :)
I give them 20 years max before the US and the UK implode and China runs the world. The EU will be back up and stronger than ever, and South America will have one of the world's powerhouse economies.
Personally, I can't wait :)

I can only hope the EU gets its shit together, but other than that...power politics will remain.
Sure, China is far from perfect, but they're not the demons Americans would like to believe.
BTW, I do think the EU will get its shit together. It has to as, for the EU, there' s no real alternative either.
Personally, I think the EUwill come out a lot stronger on the other side than it is now and with its buying power and number of people living there, it could out-lead America in no time, if run the right way.
Besides Germany has already proven how well an EU country can do when it's run to true EU principles (I just read a Der Spiegel article about how Germany actually hasn't given that much money in loans to other EU countries and has actually PROFITED to the tune of billions of euros because of the debt crisis. I'm not a fan of Merkel, but you can't deny she knows what she's doing. :)
Meanwhile, I'm doing my part to help. Pretty much all my purchases now are from Thailand or from EU countries -- today's were Spanish olive oil, cheese and olives, German hay (for my rabbits), French cheese, Belgian butter and Danish pate :)

Yes, indeed. Baader and Meinhof were prominent members.
I like your elaborated political view by the way. Lots of points are very worth discussing. That's what lots of discussions are missing and I think it's a shame that your initial post got downrepped. The topic is worth mentioning and you obviously did it with good intentions.
