Capcom would also use Resident Evil, Megaman, and many other characters than just Street Fighter.
Eidos could use:
Hana Tsu Vachel (fear effect)
Kane And Lynch
Batman? (rights issues)
Timesplitters characters
and more

Not a chance on either of those. DC would never ok Batman to represent Eidos and Timesplitters and Free Radical are now owned by Crytek.

Interesting. I have heard of precisely none of these, with the possible exception of Balrog, but to the best of my knowledge that is a monster from The Lord Of The Rings.

Why yes, I did ;-) And I bet I can find a bunch of games I consider absolute classics that you've never played either :-p Let's face it, people have different tastes, and noone has played every game in existence.
Besides, Street Fighter is mostly a console series, no? I've never been much of a console player. The first console I owned was a PS2 which I bought for my son a few years ago. Also, I'm not huge on Japanese games.

The Square and Enix merger is only on the business side of it; They still work separately, I reckon. If the same thing happened to Eidos, I don't see why their characters will be necessarily on an SE hypothetical crossover game.
