Faithful: Because if the program had DRM it is likely the Demo does as well.

DRM to keep you from distributing a free program?

Yeah, just like Spore Creature Creator installed SecuRom on your system if you tried the demo.

So, the game had DRM?

I do not know, but the vast majority of games do, so it is a safe to figure the finished game did come with DRM. That is what makes gog so good; No DRM ever!
Just a curiosity...Port Royale 2 is on the way...and what about "Port Royale"? Did anyone wonder why is that
What the hell... That's one awesome surprise @_@

Yeah, PR seems to have fallen off the face of the earth.
I would like to see Patrician II and Patrician III as well.

Hm. I was under the impression it wasnt huge with PC gaming until the past few years about. An older game like this, especially of its style..I wouldnt expect it to have DRM. The people who make em are generally such dorks they're one with the community instead of being detached from it.

Serial numbers and CD checks and the like have been around for ages. Online activation and limited activations are a newer phenomenon, though.

Oh yeah, I dont mind those too much though so I didnt think of it when writing. :)
Though I've been vehemently anti anti-piracy (hehe) the past while, there was a guy from Bethesda who brought up a good case for at least minor DRM (like cd checks/serials) -- a lot of the money they put into tech support is taken up by pirates otherwise, and that I don't dig.
