groze: he character of Lisa in REmake made my hair stand on end every time I heard her dragging her shackles and moaning off-screen.
Very True.
And the shark.
The supposedly dead shark.
Nonononono! Don't approach ... wait half an hour at 10 meters of it and then it should be a supposedly absolutely dead shark.
Carefull now.

And don't forget the environments are horrifying and brimming with atmosphere, I would not even dare go in that masion even if the sun is up.

And the soundtrack is eeire:

AFnord: I don't know about their exact release date compared to each other, but the Gamecube also got most of the resident evil games.
Personally I found Eternal Darkness to be better than Resident Evil, mainly because of the more interesting plot and enemies, plus the sanity effects. But ti is flawed though, combat is not exactly great, and it is made even worse by the fact that it can be trivialized through the spell system, and most puzzles are a bit on the simplistic side.

Elmofongo: I have seen some vids about eternal darkness and I got to say the enviornments do not look as scary and atmospheric compared to Resident Evil Remake.

I blame the fact because RE Remake had gorgeous pre rendered backgrounds while ED is just plain old 3D enviornmets.

Resident Evil Remake:

In part, that's also because ED was meant to be a N64 game, it started as a N64 title with N64 graphics.

No sane person would go into a mansion full of monsters.

Even without monsters or heck ghosts I would not stay in that mansion period.

Unless those sane people are misled into the mansion by their double-crossing boss, and especially when the mansion looks like a good alternative to staying in the woods packed with zombified dogs. ;P

That is why I find a lot of these horror games, stupid. My character chooses to put himself or herself in an environment full of monsters or worse? Is my character retarded or insane? That makes the game insanely unrealistic. It's hard for me to take some horror games seriously. That is why I like the Left4dead games. Those guys in the those games had no choice. The environment came to them... More horror games should begin like the House On The Haunted Hill movie. You and other people get tricked into putting yourself in an environment with hostile forces. I can understand that it is some people's duty to go to hostile environments(military, police etc) but in realistic world, they wouldn't send in less than 50 men to a mansion or ship full of monsters.

I'd take my chances with the zombie dogs. If they get to be too much for me, I can always climb up a tree. Monkey style. Then take em out, with a pistol or a rifle or something.

Hey in Resident Evil Remake that were forced to go their because the S.T.A.R.S Alpha Team were looking for their compatriots Bravo who went missing on an investigation and they were attacked by zombie dogs in the woods, and you say that they could just simply leave the Mansion on foot but would you run the risk of getting chased by flesh eating dogs in the woods, you don't know how many are out there.

You could find the nearest tree and climb unless you have no upper body strength. And why search for a missing team alone in a mansion full of monsters, that is a suicide mission. Best to wait for reinforcements. If there is no tree to climb, then 2nd best thing is enter the mansion, find a room that can easily be defended and hold there until reinforcements arrive.

Seriously, did you play the game in question? A Special Forces Police team is sent to the mountains in search of the team they'd sent there previously to investigate some bizarre murders, who disappeared. The chopper that took them there takes off to fuel up and they are abandoned there. Soon they find the remnants of the first team in a destroyed helicopter, and then a huge pack of zombie dogs attacks them out of nowhere, killing one of the team members instantly. The rest of the team are frightened because they have no clue of what those things are, but they are trained military so they try fighting them off, to no avail whatsoever. Wesker, the team leader, suddenly saves Chris from being mauled by a zombie dog and urges the survivors to hide in the mansion, a command they more than willingly obey, given the confusion they were suddenly thrown into.

So, what's not realistic about this, if not for the fact there are no zombies in the "real world"? As far as human behavior goes, I see nothing wrong.

(And yay for derailing threads!)

Yeah but you are outside and outside there is only zombie dogs. So you will be safe for 2 days. Then if no help arrives, you will die of dehydration. You could also run tree to tree. Why do you think monkeys make use of trees? They have to constantly deal with predators. A monkey's world is Resident Evil 24/7. There are many animals that love feasting on monkeys. Big cats, for example.

I don't think Chris, Jill, Barry, and Wesker were trained to jump tree to tree my monkey loving friend

I played the game 11 years ago so don't remember the whole story. I'm not saying RE is unrealistic. I'm saying, They should of climbed up trees like monkeys. When I think of unrealistic horror games, I think of games like Resident Evil Revelations. 2 people investigating a ghost ship...AND then when they encounter a monster on this ship after already encountering dead bodies, instead of jumping back in their boat and fleeing, they continue on their insane suicide mission?
