An interesting thing has occurred. In the "Peers" list for a particular torrent, a singular IP is listed as (My Machine Name, omitted for privacy). I'm talking about the name Windows asks you to give your machine during the installation of the OS (e.g. My Computer, etc). Furthermore, I appear to be downloading from this IP. Anyone know what's going on? I tried asking for help on the uTorrent IRC, but no one's home. A ton of people are idling, but no one's answering.

It's not "u", it's "µ", meaning "micro".
Otherwise, I have no clue.

Thank you very much, Captain Grammar Nazi. I know damn well what it is. I'm not asking about special characters. I'm asking why my machine shows up in a very specific way, and why I'm downloading from it.
And I said I had no clue.
That being said, I must be on my way, I have a Party's committee to attend to.

If you're downloading from someone on your LAN, it'll show up as what they named their computer, not their IP.

@Narushima, if you have no clue, then shut the hell up. You're not contributing anything useful, and nobody likes a smartass.

@PoSSeSSeDCoW, I'm not downloading over a LAN, and the name of the computer is the name of MY computer. That's why I said it was listed as "My Machine Name".

GameRager makes sense... maybe your computer is being listed as one of the available seeds.

Also, does uTorrent suck less now? It said it wanted to download an update but apparently it got infested with adware sometime in the past month or two.
uTorrent got way better, using it more often now.
uTorrent used to be the best. Now its the betterest.

Considering you are asking for other people's help, you think you would be less of an asshole. Granted, he may have been being a "grammer nazi" but no need to attack back in such a way.
Yes, such good behavior from someone who so politely told everyone what rules they must conform to in the etiquette thread.

GameRager: What Etiquette thread?

Yeah, that thread. And it seemed like the reply to PoSSeSSeDCoW was more snobbish than the one to Narushima to me. I don't think Narushima was trying to be a grammar nazi, but I can understand how it was taken that way and the reaction. PoSSeSSeDCoW was actually trying to give good advice and was given a condescending "MY computer" for his trouble.

Thanks mate ;)

I was just pointing that out because it's easy to type µ on an azerty keyboard. I checked and it seems there is no such key on a qwerty keyboard, though.
And that's about it.
