Kaffeine: Man, too bad there isn't a Linux version...
avatar
Daliz: Exactly. I just looked at the Kickstarter and seems the Linux stretch goal wasn't reached.
Hello!

Some users have reported being able to run the PC version under Linux just fine (we guess under some kind of shell?).
Also, the Linux version was never intended to be developed by us - we WILL however hand the PC version to any skillfull team willing to do the port!

Oh, okay. Thanks for the update. That must be Wine.
I'll keep my fingers crossed then about a native port :)
Screw you Cinemaware, more than a 25% increase in price just because I live in the UK?

Ain't regional pricing grand?
12,69 euros for me, with the -15% applied (making it 16,20 dollars).

I'm just sticking to my resolution of not buying regionally priced games here. Not having any money at the moment is an added bonus. :D

It's $17.69 for me even with the discount. =(

And yeah, I object to that kind of price hike on principle. It's very nice of GOG to give store credit, but it hardly makes me forgive them for allowing this kind of bollocks.

It sucks...
I'm way more interested in the Amiga version.
By the time of its release maybe there will be a good bundle deal with the Remastered and i'll pick up both.In a perfect world the Remastered would have already included the Amiga version today and then i would have picked them up instantly for certain.

Better than being like steam and not offer anything but i agree that regional prices sucks and almost never works as intended.
Havent seen a single store doing regional pricing as it shoud be.

IronArcturus: Thanks for the info! Does it also work with an Xbox 360 controller?
Yes. My Xbox 360 controller works perfectly.
Looks very cool. A bit pricey, but cool
Looking very nice. I'll wait a little for a few more impressions on this updated version before I bite the bullet.

Cinemaware: Of course, when helping crowdfund a project we hope a fan is doing more than just "purchasing a product" - that is not the intent or spirit of crowdfunding. It's all about helping realize a dream and bring a project to market that can then reach many, many more people - which then in turns helps more Cinemaware projects materialize.
This is true, and I am happy to have helped Wings! to reborn.

But then there is also the fact that there are some backer expectations, many of which are based on "de-facto" procedures these days.

I don't think anyone is upset about the game or about backing the game, but from what I have seen on different forums, Wings! backers are more or less disappointed for not having any way to redeem the game on existing game stores. You have said that only DRM-free version was promised, and also delivered, but the common procedure is to offer keys to some digital store.

I have personally backed 54 successful Kickstarter projects (and Broken Age twice, outside of Kickstarter), and of these games Wings! is so far the only one that doesn't offer any keys to Steam/GOG/Humble.

And as most backers are paying more than what the average store price is, it seems kind of crazy that they have the most inconvenient way of getting the game.

It may seem like a minor thing from your point of view, as the game is the same anyways, but from the backer point of view it's different. For instance, I would have to have 54 different username/passwords combinations and 54 different URLs to get all my backed games. Whereas the alternative is to have only a few services (Steam/GOG/Humble) where I could redeem the games and have in the same shelf with other games.

I hope this will help to understand why many backers are so badly wanting to get the keys.

yyahoo: I always assumed that the distributor (GOG or in other cases, Steam) provided the keys to the property owner without charge.
avatar
donsanderson: Thanks, guess that makes sense since GOG wouldn't have to pay for those copies. Seems the big thanks for this should go to GOG though.
Just to follow up on this line of thought (while simultaneously being totally lazy and not attempting to dig out the thread), GOG has confirmed that they provide keys to devs with no questions asked. I believe it was Judas and I believe it was sometime in the last few months. His statement was something along the lines of: it would be silly of us to charge a developer for something that is theirs.

EDIT: Thanks GOG & Cinemaware for the release! I look forward to picking it up...
