Watching beginnings of social decay, gloating or sneering at life's disarray.

Unrest - Special Edition, an fantastic RPG set in alternative ancient India, full of meaningful choices affecting the branching narrative, is available 10% off for Windows and Mac OS X, on GOG.com. That's $22.49 for the first week!

Set in a fantasy interpretation of ancient India, Unrest is an adventure RPG focused on story and choices. Play as five ordinary people who are struggling to get by in the in the famine-stricken city-state of Bhimra. Brave poverty, disease, treason, political and social upheaval. Face unique burdens and gripping dilemmas as you struggle to survive in each chapter...but choices made to help one character may well make life harder for another. In Unrest, there are no heroes of legend, there is no mystical quest, and fate has not chosen you. You're on your own.

Unrest - Special Edition lets you take on the role of a peasant girl faced with an arranged marriage, a priest troubled by his radical temple, a slum dweller with a dangerous past, an ambassador from a militant nation, and a mercenary captain far out of his depth - all as part of the same narrative. Hard decisions made in one chapter have consequences in the next. A choice made as one character may well determine the fate of another. There are no fail states in Unrest - if a character dies or fails in their objectives, that becomes part of the tale. Organic, branching dialogues designed to offer an unparalleled level of control and involvement to the player. The Special Edition offered here comes with The Unrest OST, a 12-track instrumental album inspired by Indian classical music, a novella set in Bhimra, high-res digital posters, including a concept map of Bhimra, behind the scenes developer footage as well as some concept art & design documents.

If you're looking for an RPG experience that actually focuses on playing a role, make sure to check out Unrest - Special Edition for $22.49. Alternatively, you can get the basic version for $13.49, and if you like, you can always upgrade it later. The 10% off special release discount on all things Unrest lasts until Wednesday, July 30, at 3:59PM GMT.

Just now noticed this. Probably because I bought directly from the front page splash, which features the Special Edition. I would have still gone SE anyway, but I'm glad too see the game itself is available at a much more accessible price for folks who want only that.
Just saw this yesterday. Glad to see it offered here on GOG! :D

Siegor: Have you played it yet? If so would you mind sharing some of your thoughts? I had never heard of the game but the description makes it seem like my type of game: a story based RPG where you actually play a role!
As it has barely been up for a half-hour, I've not even downloaded it yet. :) But I'll be glad to convey my impressions if I get to it soon. I think I'm nearing the end of The Witcher, so should have time to take on another involved game after that.

I have strong hopes for this game. I am glad to see developers go this route and challenge our higher natures. The immersive nature of games makes an experience like that so much more potent.

Ooo, this looks mighty interesting indeed. Wishlisted for future discovering. Nice!
Looks good, wishlisted.

jamyskis: This looks like a wonderful game with a very interesting topic and theme.

I do fear though that we are going to see the inevitable post-mortem about its sales failure with that price. Releasing any indie game at anything above $15 is commercial suicide nowadays.
It is $15 (-10% off this week). The $25 ver is for the Special Edition.
Man, I'm really bummed out I didn't pledge some money for it when it was on kickstarter. It's not that I didn't want to at the time, I just forgot.
I hope this game is as good as it sounds (haven't downloaded it yet).

I pre-ordered it using the Humble Bundle Store widget on the official site for like $10 I think (may have been $12).

I sure wish GOG would set up a pre-order system. I'd have much prefered to pre-order a gog version than a humble store version. Now I won't be getting it here until it's on sale for under $5 (for the SE). Oh well.

Then I would suggest that GOG change the description, because a lot of people are going to look at the price at the top of the post, think "fuck that" and not bother reading any further.

Basically the "Special Edition" is bonus content like a soundtrack, images or videos that normally in this platform (by default) comes for free on our buy (who doesn't come here for the amazing prices and FREE bonus content?)... but now we have to pay for it.

What? ._.

*something is starting to crumble*

PS: Not gonna say anything about the price nor the treatment of being 'DLC'. That talks of itself alone. :\

Even better; they should actually change the version depicted in the front page banner.
It certainly looks different. However the trailer doesn't really show much, so i'll just wishlist and wait to see some reviews or gameplay videos to decide if its unique nature is a good or a bad thing for me.
Im really intrigued by the concept. But i got to say the trailer on here is very underwhelming.
Looks very, very interesting. Anyone have any early impressions?

We still give free goodies for those games where we can but for newer games it's either offer the game without the Special Edition goodies and force people to buy the Special Edition elsewhere or give everyone a choice of whether they wish to buy the Special Edition of a newly released game here.
