The platformer king returns in his 2D glory!

Rayman Origins, a whimsical, colorful, and phenomenally playable reboot bringing the series back to its 2D roots and allowing to visit its fantastic world with up to three friends in co-op mode, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $9.99 for the next 48 hours!

Rayman is an iconic character and his platformer games entertained generations of gamers. As many other platformer series, his adventures also took a turn into the realm of 3D. They were quite successful at that, mind you, but there's something about the run-and-jump genre, that simply makes it work best in two dimensions. Rayman Origins takes us back to the 2D roots of platformer gaming, and reminds us why this kind of graphics and this kind of gameplay is a perfect match. Plus, it introduces a lot of fresh ideas while doing so.

Rayman Origins is an explosion of action, color, fun, and joy. The cartoony 2D graphics pictures a beautiful world full of magic, wonder, and strangeness that will instantly charm its explorers. The fast-paced platforming gameplay paired with perfect controls and masterful level design make this title an instant classic of the platformer genre. The tone of the game is whimsical and lighthearted, but that does not mean it comes without challenge. Luckily, you can bring up to three friends along for the mad chase through the Glade of Dreams in the well-executec co-op mode. Whether you are a Rayman fan looking to be reunited with some of the iconic characters from the series, or a newcomer in the Raymanverse, this game is guaranteed to bring you much fun and joy.

If you've ever enjoyed a platformer game--any platformer game!--there's a great chance you'll instantly fall in love with Rayman Origins. Get it now, DRM-free, for only $9.99 on GOG.com. The half-price offer lasts until Thursday, June 6, at 9:59AM GMT.

yonazzan73: The most impressive 2D platformer ever, and up there with SMW and SM3 in gameplay terms.

I Bought it on a Steam sale, loved it, and I've just bought it again so I can have a DRM, bullshitfree copy.

No kidding, if you like platformers, just buy it
Steam version is also DRM free, but in general you are right (GOG >>> Steam)

It says no third party DRM. Can you play it without steam launching? ;).Hmm comments on steam forum seems to indicate the game was pretty much drm free (including no steam drm) from day one.hmmmm

Neat trailer, looks fun. Is the music from the trailer in the soundtrack?

If only it weren't completely locked for Russia.
Awesome stuff, and I encourage everyone to buy this. Certainly of the best platformers of recent years. In fact, given that the game is the one new game that Ubisoft has released DRM-free in the past two years, there's no excuse for anyone not to have bought it on DVD, save lack of money. I remember it did make its way to the top of the Amazon and PC game charts here in Germany, no mean feat given that the console versions flopped.

BUT

It's a telling thing that Ubisoft has only released two of the very few games that had already been released DRM-free at retail. While it's commendable that Ubisoft continues to release games DRM-free, I'm beginning to wish that they would up their game a little and start releasing the stuff that's never been available DRM-free otherwise (Assassin's Creed 2, Settlers 7, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Driver: San Francisco etc.)

Also, the game is €10 at retail. $10 is a bargain, but the standard asking price of $20 isn't a compelling sales argument (even if the game is easily worth that)

Wow Ubisoft publishing this game on GOG? Kudos. Also we want to see more titles. Like all Asssasin's Creed series.

Legends isn't getting a PC port.
Insta-bought!

And I concur with the sentiments of getting e.g. more AssCreed games here. The "oh but I have it already on Steam!"-whiners can go to heck for all I care. :)

Never say never. It started out as a Wii U exclusive, now there are ports planned for PS3, Vita and Xbox 360. I'd wager PC isn't far behind.

It's a really nice jump&run. I already own this game as retail version which is also DRM-free but I bought it also here on GOG to get a digital DRM-free copy. All other digital copys in the internet have Tages DRM.
Got this game on PS3 last year. It's absolutely fantastic.
Seeing it for $10 though is too cheep especially for 1 year old game of it's quality.

morciu: so does the coop work online?
It's local co-op but you can play on one keyboard with up to 4 people :D.

Indeed in France too at retail (FNAC) it's €10. But the digital distribution prices are startling!
Amazon.fr: €14.99 Amazon.co.uk: £14.99 Amazon.com: $29.99 Steam: €14.99

So, yeah Gog! Even at full price this is a good deal... Oh, and expect a crappy Steam sale in the coming days though, just like every time GOG releases a title already on Steam.
Got on Xbox and its a brilliant game, well worth it
