Synthesized heartbeat.

FRACT OSC, an abstract sound-driven exploration-focused puzzle game that is also a first-person perspective interactive music synthesizer largely inspired by the aesthetics of the TRON movies, is available 10% off on GOG.com. That's only $13.49 for the first week.

FRACT OSC is a musical exploration game. You arrive in a forgotten place and explore the vast and unfamiliar landscape to discover the secrets of an abandoned world that was once built on sound. As you start to make sense of this strange new environment, you work to rebuild its machinery by solving puzzles and bring the world back to life by shaping sound and creating music within the game. FRACT features a beautiful open world to explore and decipher with music-based puzzles, stunning visuals, and an amazing score that evolves as you play. As you progress through the game, you unlock tools to make your own music in the FRACT studio, where you can also export and share your creations with others.

If you've always felt you could need a little bit more of music synthesizer in your puzzle/adventure games, or a nice bit of gaming in your music synthesizer FRACT OSC has you covered, for only $13.49 on GOG.com. The 10% special launch discount offer lasts until Tuesday, April 29, at 4:59PM GMT.

Which probably means music isnt done inhouse (although i cant really tell)..OR they see everyone else selling the soundtrack so try to squeeze a few extra $$$ :/

Matruchus: Yeah, there seems to be a pattern developing with small developers and indie developers who sell music separately from the game. It seems to be a standard pattern at the moment. Same happened with the soundtrack for The Last Federation game.
I can understand if its a contracted musician, but if the music is made by a guy in house for the game?. I would have thought dev has rights to use it as they will....
One thing I would like to point out about the game from the FRACT OSC forums - if you have problems with simulation sickness/motion sickness when you play this game try using V-Sync if you can. If you can't use that then don't play the game since this a very serious problem for some people. And search the forum for other possible solutions for this.

Myst and Loom had a kid?

Yes, it's called Ether One.

This one is illegitimate, it's because of a fling Myst had with Dance Dance Revolution.

Pssh. Not enough J-Pop! =P

On a more serious note, I really hope they'll find a way to fix the audio issues because as of right now that crackling makes for an unpleasant experience... I'm starting to think I should have gotten BS5 instead while it still was on sale. =/

Well im not quite sure but as much as I read on different reviews the sound disfiguration happens mostly on slower pcs - since this game has very high requirements and its seems there are also a few bugs regarding to cpu usage since a lot of people see cpu spikes to 100% for no apparent reason but otherweise it doesn't really affect the game..

The problem is that people like myself who have posted about the crackling sound actually meet or exceed the recommended CPU specs.
I totally want in but...

I've got an older i3-540, so I'm a little nervous about that i5 minimum requirement. Unless they're talking mobile, since it's only 2.2 GHz?

No the game has very high requirements. This is recommended processor for this game from the requirements page: Core i7 2.4 GHz or better

Gog did not add recommended requirements but here they are:
Recommended:
OS: Windows 7/8
Processor: Core i7 2.4 GHz or better
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Radeon 6850 series or equivalent
DirectX: Version 11
Hard Drive: 2 GB available space
Sound Card: Required
Additional Notes: Headphones and/or dedicated speakers recommended

This game seems very hard on the cpu and not that much on the graphic cards.
If you look on different websites you can see the game is playable on i5 but may tend to lagg here and there.

Oh I get that, but desktop Core i3/i5/i7 are generally 3GHz and higher, so I think they're citing laptop requirements.

I guess I could take the risk, since it looks like I'm between min and recommended.

CPU: i3-540 3.06Ghz
GPU: Radeon HD7870 (Sapphire OC)
RAM: 8 GB

But if the audio ends up being b0rked, that's a huge part of the game :/

Yeah I would wait if I were you to see if the audio bug will be fixed. There is a steam thread on this here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/243220/discussions/0/558753804501779235/#p1

Ended up buying this to catch the 10% off 1st week sale.

I'll see if this works on my setup.

The Steam thread does have a Windows ver reporting link, even for GOG ver:
