Don't miss the Demon War expansion, 50% off like the main game!

Din's Curse, a astoundingly deep and replayable hack-and-slash type fantasy RPG with randomized world generation, is available 50% off for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. That's only $4.99 for the first week. For that time, you can also get the Demon War expansion for $2.49.

In Din's Curse, you will explore an extensive underground, slaying dangerous monsters, solving dynamic quests, dodging deadly traps, and in your spare time, plundering loot. Quell uprisings, flush out traitors, kill assassins, cure plagues, purge curses, end wars, and complete other dangerous quests or the danger WILL escalate. Not all is as it seems though, traitors will gladly stab you in the back, renegades can revolt against the town, spies can set up ambushes, and items might even curse or possess your friends.
Choose one of 141 class combinations and journey to an infinite number of dynamically generated towns with vastly different problems. Every game is a surprise! Your actions have real consequences in this dynamic, evolving world. Your choices actually matter!

If you're up for a truly original, open-ended action-RPG experience, make sure you pick up both Din's Curse and it's Demon War add-on for only $7.48 total. The 50% off special release discount for both will last until Tuesday, October 14, at 1:59PM GMT.
Very tempted. I thought Depths of Peril was a well done game and this looks like it might be another winner.

IAmSinistar: I'm talking about the GOG shelf - normally DLC is shown under the parent game, with a "+ DLC" above the game to indicate you have purchased those as well. But Demon War shows up as its own box, like a standalone game. I was curious as to why this one is different in that regard.

EDIT: Thanks to </span> for the suggestion to [url=https://secure.gog.com/account/refresh]refresh my account. The game and DLC display in the proper combined form now.
Ah, sorry, I completely misunderstood you. I completely forgot about that handy tool to refresh your account shelf!
DLC is sold separately? So is there still a chance of more DLC coming, or is base game + DLC basically the "Gold Edition" already?

This is, likely, all there is. Soldak refers to it as an expansion, rather than DLC, and don't really use the DLC model, at all - i.e. if there's additions to a game they are not piecemeal, but big content updates.

They are working on different game(s) now.

Right now, AFAIK, Soldak is working on a zombie survival game set in the world of Depths of Peril/Din's Curse so I doubt there will be more DLC for Din's at this time.

Crewdroog: after reading here and elsewhere, this game looks pretty awesome, plus it's hack and slash so yay! I love that towns can be taken over, it sounds like a nice departure from other arpgs i've played like this. On my wishlist :)

Oh, and it looks like you can download a demo at the company's website:
http://www.soldak.com/Company/Demos.html
Thanks for the link, the demo will help me decide. I'm not impressed by the look, graphics are okay bit for some reason the camera looks awkward from the screenshots, can't tell why. I will try the demo.

EDIT: Well, the controls and everything is a bit awkward, but it has a certain charm to it. I guess I'll grab it. Mind you with my backlog, I doubt I'll be able to play it any time soon.

Me too. I really need to stop looking at games late at night. I tend to spend more when I am tired. These ones look good though.
Nice promo.
just read through this thread....I'm sold... adding to back log now.

Yes, this is golden. Selling the DLC separately is a GOG nonsense, a sellout.

Wow, I didn't think this game was ever going to show up here, but I'm happy it has.

I've been playing this game with my roommate for a while now. The interface and graphics may not be the prettiest around by a long shot, but the game itself is great. It's very "Diablo 1" in structure, but with a lot more random elements and depth. Each new game you create a town, this town is randomized (merchants, npcs, the lot) and the dungeons are of random depths, with random layouts, with a TON of random events. Too slow on that item collection quest? Maybe one of the NPCs finishes it before you, or maybe they get captured trying, or maybe they outright die. Maybe a tornado touches down in town and starts killing people. Maybe the town's weaponsmith gets caught trying to steal from the potion vendor, and now they hate each other, causing them to get into a fistfight. Maybe that makes the potion vendor go rogue, run down into the dungeon, and lay an ambush for you. Or maybe the ceiling collapses and kills all of you.

Every example I just mentioned is a thing that can actually happen in-game, and that's just scratching the surface. If you can look past the rough edges of this game, built entirely by one man, you'll find one of the deepest, richest hack n' slash RPGs out there.
And what about loot system? Is it satisfying enough to be compared with Diablo's one? Are there item sets, unique items, slotted items, skill-buffing jewelry and stuff?

There are item sets and unique items, yes. I'll have to double-check about the slots as I am not sure that Din's Curse has such a feature.

Damn... Have you all in GOG staff completed the training quest "Get their money out of them"? ;)
