BloodNet, a dark cyberpunk adventure classic with RPG elements, in which vampires take Manhattan--and cyberspace!--and the stake of the game is your very soul, is available for Windows and Mac OS X on GOG.com, for only $5.99!

In 2094 the children of the night have a new playground, as far from the burning rays of sunlight as possible--the cyberspace. With the wired and wireless networks covering the whole of New York with a thick digital shroud, there's virtually no place out of their reach. The fact that you have fangs at the helms of the mega-corporations doesn't help either. It would seem that humanity is doomed. But this isn't the story of the human race's fall. It's a story of one person's struggle. When you wake up with two bite marks on your neck in the middle of vampire-ridden Manhattan, and you start to feel the HUNGER, there's very little time to save your soul. Just remember to install some humanity-boosters in your cyber-deck.

BloodNet is a remarkable game that brilliantly blends horror and cyberpunk in a mixture of adventure and RPG gameplay. You will explore the gritty locations of a high-tech futuristic city full of cyber-enhanced freaks, and tread the dangerous paths of the Cyberspace, that houses more demons than it did ever before. Build a team of deckers, cyberpunks, mercenaries, and rage gangers to help you in your desperate fight for your last threads of humanity. With a dark, memorable story, a haunting setting, graphics that aged surprisingly well, and hours of exciting and original gameplay, this classic title is a cyberpunk delight you cannot say no to.

Face some of mankind's greatest fears and enter the high-tech realm of BloodNet, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

Note though that the PC version you linked to is the Adlib (Soundblaster) music version. The PC version supports also Roland MT-32 and General MIDI (Roland SCC-1, Waveblaster etc.) which sounds better (mainly the General MIDI with good soundfonts, the MT-32 support is pretty poor in this game), but as said Microprose never was an expert with PC MIDI music, they released some of the worst sounding Roland MT-32 (and General MIDI) music that I know. :)

The Amiga version sounds quite different (and IMHO better), probably by a different composer.

Yeah I did mention earlier that the PC version apparently supports MT-32, which no doubt sounds awesome, I'm just quite inept at setting it up manually with a custom dosbox build, unless someone makes a tutorial listing how to do it.

Note that I DID say the Amiga version has superior quality and instruments, my problem is the music itself (as you said, prob different composer) which sounds too fast and spastic, and doesn't fit the game.

I was really interested based on the initial description. Vampires and Cyberpunk? Hell yes!

Then I saw "point-and-click adventure." Meh, bordering on Bleh.

P&C adventure/RPG hybrid.

My reaction:
Vampires? Those guys whose awesomeness died along with Proinsias Cassidy? Meh.
Cyberpunk and point and click? Hell yeah!
Their was actually a sequel to this in development called Bloodnet 2000, which got cancelled. :)

Don't think of this as a traditional point and click adventure at all. There really is no other game quite like it. It's not linear at all and has a lot of "RPG" type features, If the setting appeals to you (and it should!) then I suggest you really give this one a try.
This is amazing ! I thouht this thing had rights issues ? That it was made after some book or board games or something ? Or am I thinking about another game ?

BTW GOG, since you got a Microprose game, why not get one of their best, if not the best one they ever made?

Good job GOG! This is the kind of games I like to see.
Whoa, good one! Instawish'd!
This definitely looks interesting.

Nah, only the intro music. But that (the MT-32 music) is IMHO quite good, at least compared to the music in other Microprose PC games. :)

I bought Rex Nebular because it was supposed to be a Space Quest 4 copycat, and I liked SQ4 quite a bit, especially the MT-32 music. Too bad Microprose didn't copy the music from SQ4, it was pretty bad even with Roland. Damn Microprose, why did they even try to make any music into their games?

The MT-32 support in Bloodnet sucks (as it does in most Microprose games). I think it is just playing General MIDI music, with fewer instruments. So I think the best idea to enhance the PC version music is to use the General MIDI (SCC-1 or Waveblaster) option, and possibly using good soundfonts (or a good General MIDI sound card), albeit it sound ok also with the vanilla Microsoft GS General Midi softsynth as well which comes by default with Windows. But even that is not that good IMHO, but far better than the poor Adlib/Soundblaster music.
