Guys,

Not a gaming topic, but a bit of a fun diversion,

I've recently been inspired by the discovery of peanut butter and lettuce as a fantastic sandwich combination. I wish to discover the very height of bap related bliss. I will reward a $9.99 game of choice to the winner (I'll PM you if you win). I wish to know your ultimate sandwich build. The bread is restricted to either standard sliced farmhouse loaf, or a wholemeal / white bap.

This will take some time, as I intend to try every serious entry (though I reserve the right to refuse choices I disgust such as mushrooms). Please do let me know your ultimate suggestions.

One entry per person.

If it helps, I'm partial to a meaty solution, but really it's an inventive and striking new combination I'm looking for.

EDIT: I will keep the thread updated with recipes I've tried.

I may also chuck out prizes for distinguished runners up.

Is a toasted/grilled sandwitch an option?

No, was about to update - cold only.

Lol, i was going to say that i'd have given you a toasted sandwitch recipe for free, without needing a prize. Oh well, good luck with finding a tasty sandwitch.
I tried this a week ago and thought it was pretty good. Although I used a baguette, I don't see how it couldn't work with a loaf too. And it's really simple to build.

Pre-heat the oven to about 150-175 C. Cut the loaf of bread in half horizontally. Make a nice layer consisting of pepperoni and smoked ham, possibly any other meat of your liking (don't go overboard though because then the bread won't shut all the way). Add a layer of cheese, edam for example. Coat the bread with basil olive oil, then toss it in the oven. Remove it after the cheese has melted.

While the bread is in the oven, prepare your choice of veggies: salad, cucumber and green pepper are a must, but if you'd like, you can add stuff like tomatoes, olives and jalapenos in there as well. Again, not too much though or you'll find it hard to close the bread.

After you took the bread out of the oven, use whatever sauces you prefer: good choices are smoky BBQ, hot salsa or a mild chilli Serrano sauce. You could also add seasoned cream cheese on the top half, but it's not necessary since you might not even taste it if there's not a ton of it. Layer the veggies on top of the meat and cheese, and if you wish add some salt and/or oregano. Close the halves and proceed with the nomnom. Make sure to have a napkin ready, and for the beverage I recommend either ice cold Cola or a beer.

edit: Noticed that you wanted a cold sandwich only - well, the build still works, just don't heat it then (although it will be better if heated)

Ingredients:
2 Slices of Pita Bread
1 Roma Tomato, chopped
4 Black Olives, finely chopped
1 Leaf of Green Leaf Lettuce, finely chopped
1/2 Pkg. Fully-Cooked Chicken Fajita Strips
1/2 can Black Beans, drained
Monterey Jack Cheese, finely shredded (to taste)
Mild Cheddar Cheese, finely shredded (to taste)
Tortilla Chips
Picante Sauce (optional - for dipping)
Sour Cream (optional - for dipping)
Guacamole (optional - for dipping)

Lay out two pieces of pita bread on a plate.
Take 3 tablespoons of black beans and mash them with a spoon. Spread this black bean mash on one piece of the pita bread. Take another 3 tablespoons of black beans, mash and spread on the other slice of pita bread.

Add two layers of tortilla chips on one slice of the pita bread for an extra yummy crunch.
Add a generous amount of both Monterey Jack and mild cheddar cheese to the piece of pita bread containing the tortilla chips.

Microwave about 8 strips of the chicken fajita meat for approximately 45 seconds.
Add the heated chicken fajita meat to the piece of pita bread containing only black beans.
Leaving the sandwich open-faced, place in the Black & Decker convection countertop oven (at 350 degrees until the cheese melts (approximately 2-3 minutes).

Chop the Roma tomato, black olives and green leaf lettuce.
Add the black olives to the side of the sandwich containing the melted cheese. Add the Roma tomato and green leaf lettuce to the other side.
Assemble the sandwich by placing the two halves together and use a knife to slice the Nacho Ordinary Healthy Sandwich in half.

One of the wonderful things about the Nacho Ordinary Healthy Sandwich is just how versatile it is for dipping! it is recommended bringing along small containers of sour cream and salsa to really give this sandwich a kick. like homemade guacamole.
Unfortunately, guacamole doesn't travel too well and so if you will be eating this sandwich on the go, then definitely stick to only the sour cream and salsa dips.

Really? How mature does the cheddar have to be?
My wife makes me sandwiches for work most days.
Often they are fairly standard, but she does have the odd moment.
One I'm not too keen on, but the guys at the office love (so it never goes to waste) is:
Salami, Cheese & Tomato Puree, with a little black pepper.
We call it the Pizza sandwich.

My personal favourites of her 'little moments' are:
Sliced Sausage & Mashed Banana.
Scotch Egg & Salsa Relish.
Cool giveaway, here is the sandwich I like most:

Take sliced farmhouse loaf then add hot mustard on one, after that some tuna (normally I take the tinned one) and then to finish it of some vegetable slices (normally a mix of carrots, cucumber and radish depending on what I have available). To finish the sandwich of, I add some cornichons and some onion slices. To make it a bit spicy I finish with some pepper and of course on top the other part of the farmhouse loaf.

I really like that, it´s just sometimes hard to eat because ingredients fall out ;-)

Slice of white or rye bread+thin slices of smoked salamy(any italian type will do)+ grated mozarella+more slices of smoked salamy+garlic paste+sliced tomato+a pinch of black pepper+one more slice of white/rye bread.

You can replace the tomato with pickled cucumbers.

That is down to personal taste and experimentation but almost anything works. Other jams too - raspberry, blackcurrant, ... You can even get exotic and go for things like smoked applewood cheddar.
bacon with cranberry and wensleydale
