GOG.com is extremely happy to tell you that while the <span class="bold">very successful "Battle of the Games"</span> has ended, our plans for an exciting summer have only just begun. Following the 66% off Alan Wake series promo, which will be over in two hours, we have prepared something indie fans will love. [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/release_promo_indie_drop]<span class="bold">Today, we&rsquo;re dropping four releases and dropping their prices a neat 50%.</span>

For the next 7 days, four great indie titles: Gemini Rue, DEFCON, Multiwinia, and Uplink are available 50% off. Gemini Rue is a tense, surprising, and challenging sci-fi point-and-click from the publishers of Resonance and the Blackwell Bundle. is a Global Thermonuclear War Simulation in which you prepare your military forces, and nuclear silos, make or break alliances with other superpowers, and finally, fire zee missiles! [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/multiwinia]Multiwinia is the multiplayer-focused (but not multiplayer-only) sequel to Darwinia, a fantastic RTS with simple game mechanics, but great strategic depth. Uplink is a hacker simulator--not your typical game, but strangely entertaining and believable.

Visit the Summer Indie Drop promo page to get DEFCON, Uplink, Gemini Rue, and Multiwinia for 50% off until Thursday, July 19 at 04:59 AM EDT.

SimonG: Eg, Half Life is even older. Yet, I wouldn't scream hooray for that. Age is not the only factor.
Speak for yourself. I'd be perfectly happy to see Half-Life here considering the only place you can get it now is Steam.
Nothing really for me, but I can't complain as I bought American Nightmare yesterday :) There's something for everyone I guess..

tfishell: Still, as I said elsewhere, maybe the staff are taking it slower during the summer months. (Not sure how vacation works over in Poland, admittedly)
Howdy!
We're out of the office, sadly, so your post will likely not be read for quite some time. Your post received ticket number 463800567.
We're coming back to the office mid-September. See ya then!

Nice to see more Indie games here on GOG and the recognition of them.

Indie games are fun/enjoyable and I find myself playing them more as of lately.

Okay. :(

YouPickOne: Not exactly, but things add up. A few games here, a few there. Plus I haven't worked in seven months, and between GOG and retail (PC & PS3) I've bought probably 80 or more games in that time. So sometimes I think I should stop buying stuff for a while. Then GOG has some good stuff on sale and there I go like so many times before, spending more again when I haven't even played half the games I already have.
i wasn't really serious ;) . just saying that compared to other summer sales (Steam or Amazon come to mind) GOG doesn't have much on sale (not that there was anything wrong with that) and the games aren't expensive to begin with.

dirtyharry50: That is the sad state of affairs for many of us. Not everyone can afford 4 terabytes of games and keep on buying yet more of them. ;-)
don't look at me, my 4TB aren't full yet.

protip: i wasn't serious with that comment. see above.

But seriously, you can expect some older releases from the 90s in coming weeks. We're trying hard to stick to the "something old+something new+something indie" each week, but the problem is that some of the Good Old Games are FUBAR and fixing them is sisyphean labor.

You should start picking titles based on how easy they are to dosbox. Stuff like Dementia will never run on anything, but a virtual machine.

Protip: Be clear in your writing. Don't expect people to make assumptions. We are not mind readers. The inclusion of a wink or smiley for example would have made your expression far more clear. ;-)

Ah, gotcha. This is the only such service I use, so that went over my head. If I had ever installed Steam I'd have probably needed two jobs to support my habit.

Thank you very much for this reply. It's good to have the occasional reminder about how messed up some oldies can be, and how long they may take to fix. I'm not really excited by the new+indie stuff, but I understand that you guys need to stay in business, and that means at least offering all sorts of DRM-free games and bonus material so people can purchase.
Just throwing this out there...I missed the 33% off sale on the Blackwell Bundle, and I'd love to see that again, even if just for a day. :D I'd love to own all my adventure games through GOG (I'm even rebuying games I already own via Steam as they go on sale on GOG)!
I can understand if any GOG long time customer feel disappointed of today releases. The games are widely available, and only fit small part of niche. Casual might find it uninteresting. But knowing GOG, they will bounce back with better releases.

Fred_DM: Steam Summer Sale starting today, so you'll need all the money for that anyway.

ne_zavarj: Steam Summer ( and Christmas ) Sale sucks . Servers will be overloaded , you will have to wait for days if you want to download the game(s) you bought .
* torrent pirate version
* install pirate version
* copy pirate version files to steam folder
* uninstall pirate version
* tell Steam to verify files

:D

It's not like we have 1000s of them :) and be like "It doesn't work? OK, gimme another!".
DOS games are one thing and Windows games another--often we have games that had two or three different builds and each of them is dead.
