Based on the screenshots I like the crisp visuals and all the nice little details in the backgrounds, and the whole concept does look really intriguing. I'd love to pre-order it but I can't afford to at the moment unfortunately, but I'll keep an eye on it after the release.
Question for the devs:

Your upcoming RPG Blackguards branches out into a new genre away from adventures. Do you have any further non-adventure titles planned for the future, or is Blackguards a one-off for now?

How many different games do you work on at any one time?

Fesin: German retail is still DRM-free (you can look it up on Amazon), just pretty expensive. But like it has been mentioned, you do get some nice physical goodies you won't get on GOG or Steam in return, you'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth it.
Okay, so the retail version is DRM-free (which is cool), but it does have some "retro code check", that is "consult your manual everytime you want to play" (which I'm not sure what to think about)?

Apart from that, I think I'm okay with paying $40 if it's a really enjoyable game, but I would have loved to get a multi-language version (and I'm actually trying to get rid of my retail games to save space instead of filling the shelf with more plastic cases XD ).

May I ask why do you even bother with retail releases at all? Do they sell that well? Paradox Int. dropped retail long ago. Is it worth the hassle?

Zoidberg: BAH! SHut up! That's because of thinking like that that we can't get correct subtitles management in games (looking at you Bioshock Infinite). :/
Now thats an argument. During reading subtitles and doing so probably missing something from the play...ergo
not the same fun as if your entire attention is focused on the play....companies makes bad subtitles???????

and the need to read books and understand movies in the original ... the later without subtitles)
I really love the art style of Daedalic games. They are really good at that. This game specifically looks so Burtonesque. Real visual treats.

The retail market in Germany, while also slowly decreasing, is still very strong. I think nobody can really say why that is but nonetheless Germany still is the core market for Daedalic.
I would even go so far and say that Daedalic's box releases have become something like a good tradition for they are actual boxes with physical goodies like posters, soundtrack CDs, coloured manuals with sometimes up to 60 pages containing additional artwork and the likes - Not just some lame plastic case with a peace of paper in it. Most publishers would probably call them "Collector's Editions" :D

A german game available in nearly any language exept swaheli and... german... why would that be?

Ah, I see, price for the german preorder is 30€, nearly 40$, twice as much as on gog.

Seems to me like Daedalic is trying to rip me off, as a consequence I won't buy anything from them.
Neither german nor "all-languages-except-german"-versions on gog.

All of that makes perfect sense, thanks for responding.
Question:

What inspired the developers in this game? I love the design of the environment and the creatures and would love to know what inspired these ideas? Thanks!
Question for the developers:

Your games rely on deep story telling much like a book but since it is visual, it probably is more akin to a film. How do you integrate the art department, the storyboard department and the game mechanics department to work together so the project looks unified and not stitched together with some areas being stronger than others? Do you use something like the equivalent of a film director to oversee how the game is flowing?

(3) a pre-sales of the product we want to develop to a distributor, against future sales - and this is what we've done with The Night of the Rabbit, pre-selling it to the German distributor.

Thanks for providing some clarification.

I suppose it's reasonable to assume that through your deal you got a certain amount of money for the development of TNotR. So, I was wondering if that deal has any kind of conclusion term, like you have fullfilled your obligation when they make their money back + a certain % of profit, of if it stands for all and every sale of the game for as long it's being sold. If ti's the former then the german language pack could find its way here at some later point, but if it's the latter then you got yourselves into a quite restrictive deal (a shame, really).

Also, is it correct to assume that there's no soundtrack on GOG because of your deal with Rondomedia?

On a side note - I guess that offering Deponia with pre-orders of TNotR is a way to get people into the series (or even Deadalic games in general), but it's not much of an incentive for people that already have it.
It might have worked better if one could choose which free Deadalic game one gets, given that all Deadalic games are priced the same on GOG - maybe something to keep in mind for your future releases.
