Epic.

Eador: Masters of the Broken World, a fantastic turn-based strategy game of truly epic proportions and unmatched depth of gameplay and some RPG elements, is now available for pre-order on GOG.com, for only $19.99.

When you pre-order Eador: Masters of the Broken World on GOG.com, you get a free copy of its critically acclaimed predecessor, Eador: Genesis, or--if you already own it--a 10% discount on your price!

The world of Eador has long forgotten that it once was whole. The great mystical cataclysm that scattered its shards in the great empty void is but a legend passed from one generation to another for millennia. In this divided realm burns the fire of everlasting struggle for power. The majestic, immortal Masters of this strange lands seek domination over their peers and their mortal subjects. In a world so scarred, yet so beautiful and filled with life, you are one of those godlike beings who shape the history and fate. The quests that await you seem endless. The enemies--deem themselves unbeatable. The challenge seems impossible. Yet--you have an eternal existence before you, and only one goal: glory.

Eador: Masters of the Broken World is a long-awaited continuation to the phenomenal Eador: Genesis, a game dubbed to be the ultimate incarnation of the heroic, magical, and mighty turn-based strategy genre. The sequel improves the game's aesthetics dramatically, while retaining everything that the fans love about the gameplay. You will be amazed by the incredibly epic scale of the world you're destined to conquer. This game can easily consume you whole for countless hours, as its challenging gameplay, endless possibilities, and diverse world become your passion--or obsession. If you were to play one, and only one, turn-based strategy for the rest of your life--make sure it's this one.

Pre-order Eador: Masters of the Broken World, to get instant access to goodies that include a soundtrack, and redeem your free copy of Eador: Genesis--a game that alone takes way more 200 hours to play through. Or, if you already own it, you'll only pay $17.99 (that's 10% off!) to pre-order the upcoming Eador: Masters of the Broken World. The offer lasts approximately until Friday, April 19, when we expect to see the game's release.

Fenixp: What's wrong with Omerta? I thought it's pretty decent.

Soyeong: What are the changes between Genesis and MotBW besides graphics?
avatar
Fenixp: Nothing, according to the original plans anyway. Well, functional MP should be in.
Aside from the 3D graphics I thought they introduced some kind of save feature? I also think some tweaked difficulty but I may be mistaken on that.

Perhaps. I can't really relate to the issue as I was actually pleasantly surprised by how well it ran - on both my notebooks and on my PC, both on Windows and via Wine in Linux.

Well did you run it very early in it's release or you played it after a while and a few updates?
The point was just that stuff like that can stick with the customer in the future. I have my fair share of games with problems, and I will not switch to consoles ;) that would be silly. You just have to take it from me that coming from a developer I had not heard of, and I looked and thought Heroes 3, I was excited and immediately purchased. To this day I still don't know if the game is like HOMM. I will eventually boot it up again and see what's what, but I am in no way rushing to preorder this from my past experiences. PC Gaming FTW.

Well, Omerta really disappointed me for several reasons, although that is a personal opinion.
If I had know before, I wouldn't have bought it, especially not for 40$.
Pre-purchase just isn't for me anymore, especially for games over 10$.

I have high hopes for Eandor though.

Yeah I actually got it on release, well on release here on GOG anyway, not the Russian version. And I didn't mean the 'switch to consoles' bit as something insulting, it's just that's where no hassle is - PC games will just forever be like this, for the better or worse. And what I wanted to say by that is that if it's fixed, it should really be fine by you and ... well everybody else really, when it comes to PC, nobody can possibly test all hardware combinations, not even all the more common ones, especially not a small indie dev - combine that with a lack of programming experience and ... there you go. What is important is whether he's willing to do something about all those problems, and Eador really, really is worth investing the time in.

I do generally believe that digital pre-purchase is a fairly silly notion by definition, the goods can't run out, they can't degrade... It's just so pointless, so no argument there :-P

You know what could have saved you the trouble? A demo version. This would be a great game to have a demo of, you get to play the tutorial and two or three shards, you think "wow, that was fun" and then you find out you've just played 0.05% of of the full game :D But it appears the way of the demo is a lost art now. I actually like trying a demo to see how well a game runs.
Nice pre-release. Although the original is "puppy punching" hard, it's one of the best games I played this year.

This last part nails it for me, I have an older computer (2009 MBP) and I want to test how a game runs on my system before I lay cash down for it. I've gotten a couple of recentish games that I can't play sensibly on this computer (Mass Effect, LA Noire, Witcher, Ghostbusters, Dragon Age [I did finish it but played 12-20 fps, was a pain]). I only bought Burnout Paradise the other day because I was able to use a trial and seen how it ran.

I hate that so few do demos now.
Well, that sounds... interesting.

Wishlisted, but not pre-ordered. Sorry guys (and ladies?) from Snowbird Games - you're probably cool and wonderful, hard working people but this is MY hard-earned money that we talking about here. And I may eventually hand them to you, but first you must present me a working, decent product. Not a promise for a product.

And I know that you have nothing to do with it, but fustercluck called 'Omerta' wreck a havoc on my level of trust in pre-ordering...
I _love_ the music in the trailer. Shame it didn't show actual game play.

Well that is why we have piratebay and sharing sites.
Pre Ordered.

Edit: I'm getting 404's on the extras, is a list all there is for the moment and untill release or it's a server gnome screw up ?

Here's my question:

What is the biggest thing that sets Eador apart from other turn-based strategy games? What makes Eador so special?
I want to know two things:
- will there be a proper English manual?
- can we play the whole game with the same hero opposite to the first Eador game?
Wishlisted for now.
Used too much money on living essentials before easter and some Figures and a few games and thats really enough spending for this month.

Question for the devs : Hmmm, not really great at trhowing questions at devs but
what was the inspiration behind the series/games?
