Epic.

Eador: Masters of the Broken World, a fantastic turn-based strategy game of truly epic proportions and unmatched depth of gameplay and some RPG elements, is now available for pre-order on GOG.com, for only $19.99.

When you pre-order Eador: Masters of the Broken World on GOG.com, you get a free copy of its critically acclaimed predecessor, Eador: Genesis, or--if you already own it--a 10% discount on your price!

The world of Eador has long forgotten that it once was whole. The great mystical cataclysm that scattered its shards in the great empty void is but a legend passed from one generation to another for millennia. In this divided realm burns the fire of everlasting struggle for power. The majestic, immortal Masters of this strange lands seek domination over their peers and their mortal subjects. In a world so scarred, yet so beautiful and filled with life, you are one of those godlike beings who shape the history and fate. The quests that await you seem endless. The enemies--deem themselves unbeatable. The challenge seems impossible. Yet--you have an eternal existence before you, and only one goal: glory.

Eador: Masters of the Broken World is a long-awaited continuation to the phenomenal Eador: Genesis, a game dubbed to be the ultimate incarnation of the heroic, magical, and mighty turn-based strategy genre. The sequel improves the game's aesthetics dramatically, while retaining everything that the fans love about the gameplay. You will be amazed by the incredibly epic scale of the world you're destined to conquer. This game can easily consume you whole for countless hours, as its challenging gameplay, endless possibilities, and diverse world become your passion--or obsession. If you were to play one, and only one, turn-based strategy for the rest of your life--make sure it's this one.

Pre-order Eador: Masters of the Broken World, to get instant access to goodies that include a soundtrack, and redeem your free copy of Eador: Genesis--a game that alone takes way more 200 hours to play through. Or, if you already own it, you'll only pay $17.99 (that's 10% off!) to pre-order the upcoming Eador: Masters of the Broken World. The offer lasts approximately until Friday, April 19, when we expect to see the game's release.

RafaelLopez: Pretty much the same games then? Heroes and Eador?

Fenixp: Same games as in you have weapons and shoot stuff in both Crysis and Unreal - same in the basic building blocks, substantially different in the use of those. But yes, of all heroes-esque TBS games, this one is probably closest to heroes of might and magic - let's just say it focuses on roleplaying much more, whereas in HoMaM RPG elements were just a feature on top of TBS.

Just go to the Eador: Genesis page and read the top review. Pretty much that. The game tries to do absolutely everything and somehow succeeds.
While Crysis and Unreal both belong to one of the most popular genres in gaming, hero/turn-based games are a dying breed, so finding similar games is somewhat larger than finding yet another Quake clone.

From a big fan of Heroes, the trailer has pretty spectacular graphics. The one thing Heroes won't do well (roleplaying) and the one thing that doesn't exist at all in Heroes (diplomacy) apparently are present in Genesis. I'll wishlist Broken World for now until I can gather more time to play and info about its quality.
I'm very excited that new Eador has release date. I own Genesis, played a lot and it's best TBS ever for me. I don't need better graphics or animations, but unfortunately Genesis works only on my one laptop. I can't install it on my PC or notebook at all. It's a shame that this great game has problems with working. I hope new one will not! :)

You have my pre-buy order! Can't wait..Have been messing with Genesis for a while now
I read one of the main reasons some people don't like Genesis is the difficulty level. Is this something that will also be addressed in Masters?
I have the Genesis wishlisted, haven't played it yet, but it sure looks interesting -- the Masters of the Broken World even more so. And multilingual games always get more points from me. More languages, greater replayability. Well, another one goes on the wishlist.

Definitely. Just adding a save system will go a long way to help people. Not only you can try different strategies without consequences, but as shown in the YouTube videos of the beta, you can (if so you wish) reload after your hero gains a level to get the most desirable attributes (disclaimer: I do not recommend to abuse it, since Eador is one of those games in which losing a battle (or even a dozen!) does not prevent you to win the war).

Also, and this has never been confirmed not denied by the developers, in playing the beta and Genesis at the same time, I have seen that at the lowest difficult level (beginner) the AI is less aggressive in the new game. It could just me getting better at the game, though…. Right now, after the initial shock, I must say that ‘beginner’ feels quite easy even in Genesis. As always, it is just the case to learn the best strategies to succeed… like in real life...

Now in retrospect, I actually liked the lack of actual save system in Genesis. It didn't make the game more challenging, it just made player realize that he can lose from time to time and nothing terrible's gonna happen.

I am with you. Western gamers, like myself, have been 'trained' to think that if you lose once you are doomed. That is not the case with Genesis. After I re-trained myself, I enjoy Genesis so much that I never use the save system in MofBW as well. In a sense, it reminds me of Planescape: Torment. There was no need to save in that game because even if you were defeated you simply could not die. Brilliant...
Excellent. My pre-order is in.

Question: What are some of the improvements in Masters of a Broken World over Genesis?
Question: Are there current Turn Based Fantasy games you guys like to play (Fallen Enchantress, Heroes of Might and Magic, etc.?)
I'm not a huge fan of the HOMM series and don't care much at all for Fallen Enchantress, but really liked the Age of Wonders series. I also liked Disciples 2. How do these different series compare to E:MoTBW?

I particularly liked the combat in AoW. While it wasn't all that complex, it did allow for much more strategy than seen in the HoMM series. What is the combat like in E:MoTBW?

Are there any plans to release a demo?

Thanks
What kind of vision would you have for the next Eador expansion? For example would it be focused on the story or would we see some new units we can recruit or fight against?

I'm really excited about the future of the Eador.

Really enjoyed Genesis . . . even if it was tricky without the manual.

How will the campaign change in the new game?

Can we have something in between, or perhaps randomly generated campaigns where the player can determine the number of shards and victory conditions?
Genesis is a great title, and I've already pre-ordered MotBW on the theory that, even if it were to turn out worthless, $25 for Genesis alone would be a good value for me!.

Q: The game play in Genesis is very deep, but lack of English-language documentation makes it really difficult for all but the most determined gamers to unlock a lot of that depth. How extensive will the documentation be for MotBW , and will you be providing any specifics on some of the deeper aspects of game play (e.g., Karma/Alignment, relations with other Astral Masters, Glory, relationships between Quests and the Campaign-game storyline, etc.)?
Sadly, not available for Mac... I'm a huge fan of Master of Magic (which I *can* run perfectly in Boxer on my Mac, even though GoG doesn't have it packaged for Mac yet for some reason...), but haven't found anything since that game that really piques my interest in Fantasy TBS games. The descriptions of this one sound awesome, though -- hopefully someone will do a Mac port of it eventually.
