A pack of containing Silmarils' classic RPG titles, Ishar 1+2 is now available for only $5.99.
Ishar: Legend of the Fortress and Ishar 2: Messengers of Doom are both role-playing games set in a fantasy world called Arborea. What set this game apart from other RPG titles of the time was that the player mostly explored outdoor environments, instead of labyrinthine dungeons. In the Ishar series you control a party of five characters. What is interesting (and almost unique, considering current games of the genre) about the party system is that, when you recruit a new potential member, a vote takes place among the current party members. Same thing goes for dismissing someone, which sometimes can end in a last-man-standing free-for-all.

Ah, I remember a lot of talk about these games back when I had an Amiga. I wasn't a big RPG fan then, so I never played them (though I certainly thought they looked pretty).
I'm buying this pack on principle, as this is the kind of release I want more of here on GOG. Though certainly I hope to have some fun with them as well. :-)

Classic RPG [played to death on my atari Falcon and was one of the few games that used the machines extra hardware.
Buying this now. Be warned these games are hard but if you are up for a challange will last you a long long time.

I quite liked these games, but I think Silmarils are being a bit greedy by only bundling Ishar 1 & 2 together. I got the Ishar Trilogy for this price in 1996, and I don't think the three games are really worth what I suppose will be 2x $5.99.

Didn't know about a #3 until your post. Wikipedia talks bout "Crystals of Arborea" as "Ishar 0" as well.
Potentials for the future I guess. (Should Licensing and a Simarlis-GOG deal work out)

After Gorky 17 and the graphics bug that crashes the game (plus 1 or 2 other GOG Games that crash), I am none to quick wanting to see if the game really does work or not.
I personally think GOG should focus on getting what they have for sale working properly before adding more and more games that may or may not work correctly.

I downloaded this game from some abandonware site some time ago, and played it through DOSBox (which I suppose is what is done here), where I experienced minimal problems with getting it to run, so apart from some DOXBox configuration (which might not be necessary), I doubt you'll have to do anything else. In any case, I'm going to purchase this when I get home from work, so I could give a status report then.

Gork17 appears to be more the exception than the rule. It's from that dos/win95 era where things don't work perfect today. yet. The old old stuff and the newer games do turn out better though, but nothing is completely bug free.

This definitely going on my "to buy later list". If only to provide something similar to the Eye of the Beholder games which I would love to play again.

Definately be buying these.
Shame they didn't include Ishar 3 but lets hope if they release it on it's own we get the cd version or a double pack with Crystals of Arborea.
