Combining best of both worlds of features from the earlier smash hits by Chris Sawyer and his team, we give you [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/chris_sawyers_locomotion]Chris Sawyer’s Locomotion. From a small entrepreneur with 2 bus stops and a rusty old bus, become the biggest tycoon of all time and connect the whole world with your spiderweb of transportation routes. Build railroads, trams, trucking lines, airplanes, ships and buses and manage your company from the early 1900’s to long past 2100 like an immortal economic entity would do. The game is played in a 2D isometric view and features beautifully-drawn historic and futuristic styles, with colorful and high resolution textures. Choose from over 40 pre-designed scenarios (including those based on real countries f.ex. USA, UK or Canada) and five difficulty settings to accommodate any playing style. This game is a special treat for vehicle enthusiasts: with lots of classic automobiles and trains, and Chris Sawyer’s insighhtful look on the future of transport past the year 2000, anyone who played with model train sets growing up will get a kick out of this classic.

Fret no more, GOG.com is doing everything to fulfill your tycoon needs so don’t hold back and grab Chris Sawyer’s Locomotion for $5.99 now!

trusteft: No and yes. There is no random map generator like in TTD. But, there is a very simple scenario editor. There you can set your favourite parameters for a user created scenario, including anything from number of cities, to height of mountains etc. This scenario you can have it to auto generate a new map every time you start a new game with it. So it works almost like a sandbox mode. You can set it up to have any number of enemy AI, starting year, etc etc.

If you like specific settings, for example high mountains, 1900 starting date, large map, etc, just create such a scenario and let the game create the map every time you start a new game with that scenario.

It's a very good system, but he should have just left it out of the "scenario builder" option since that is seen simply as map builder to many people and they stay away from it.

HomerSimpson: Many thanks, trusteft. I like sim/tycoon/managerial games in general, but I really like having the open-ended option to pursue my own goals.
You can set your own goals in your own scenarios. But even in the canned scenarios nothing stops you from keep playing...and you are welcome.

Xaromir: Everybody's doing a brand new dance now c'mon baby, do the loco-motion. :D

Wish-listed. :)

Galimatias: Thank God someone saw what I did there :P
Where's the video of monks doing the locomotion? Seems a logical advertising ploy there. Not like its that hard, my little baby sister can do it with ease

Roman5: Good release but we are still waiting for Transport Tycoon Deluxe....
There's no need to wait - just go to www.openttd.org and download OpenTTD which is a free and open-source game that not only clones TTD completely but also offers a whole plethora of free optional extensions, new options, and even new AIs. :D OpenTTD does not require Transport Tycoon Deluxe to operate, and during installation offers you to install free replacement packs for graphics, sound, and music, which look and sound beautiful and actually no worse than the original TTD (and, in my humble opinion, even better).

So you can start playing without waiting for GOG to release TTD. Then, if you feel nostalgic for the classic TTD feel, once (and if ever) GOG releases Transport Tycoon Deluxe, buy it and then just make OpenTTD use the classic TTD files from your installation. :)
I remember seeing retail copies of this game at my school's book fair...never bothered to get it. Looks cool, but I quite enjoy OpenTTD...
I'll wishlist it for now, but if TTD comes out sometime soon, I'll probably get that instead.
I'm waiting for Time Commandoooooo000!!! :( i will buy it 100 times, lol.
Everybody's doing a brand new dance now...
