Last call! We're running out of Pots of Gold! ;-)

Heads up! Here's your last chance to take advantage of our special offer. Saint Patrick's Day has come and gone, but such a great holiday should be celebrated all week long. That's exactly what we did with our [url=http://www.gog.com/luckoftheirish]<span class="bold">Luck of The Irish</span> soon-to-end special build-your-own-bundle promo! For only 20 more hours you can pick 5 out of 25 remarkable games and create your very own dream bundle up to 90% off. Feeling lucky? Add a "Pot of Gold" to your selection! What's in the pot? Who knows? Maybe it's one of the games off your wishlist? Maybe it's one of the BIG titles? You can even select 5 pots at once to receive a special bundle built for you entirely by our relatively friendly GOG-Leprechauns!

This is your last call, as this fantastic offer will be available only until Friday, March 21, at 10:59AM GMT.

Don't miss out, and Sláinte!
Finally bit the Luck-of-the-Irish bait and placed an order.

Only did one Pot-of-Gold, and it turned out to be Ittle Dew, which is on my wish list (though I cannot remember why).

For the others, chose:
Smugglers 5 (downloaded the demo not long after it was first released on GOG, but still have YET to try it XD )
Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles (finally dropped to a price point I both could afford and was acceptable to me)
Avadon 2 (only tried parts of the demo of Avadon and like it; also liked Geneforge 1 and started Geneforge 2 so figure I cannot go wrong here)
Triple Town (need to increase the number of casual games on hand and this one has had my eye since release)

Generally, these random sales are not for me, since as a person on a limited budget I want ultimate control over where the money goes. Still, I do make allowances for great sales and always have GOG as my preferred (albeit heavily) retailer of choice.

tinyE: Okay so why are all the planet names Russian? :P
I'm not complaining because they are all really cool sounding names, but obviously Russian ones.

BTW I am not big into games like this but I'm loving this one and anyone looking for a 5th title for this sale, Smugglers looks, sounds, and runs great! Good tutorial too for stupid people.....like me. :P

ps The portraits are a little silly if you are playing as a bounty hunter or pirate. I can't imagine Captain Kidd or Blackbeard looking to the heavens and smiling for their portrait. XD
Actually some of the planets have Russian names as there's a variety of names depending on which faction's space you are in :)
$4 for the Leisure Suit Larry remake alone was enough to entice me to this. A few other sort-of interesting-looking picks I went with:

The Inner World
Lilly Looking Through
Avadon 2: The Corruption
POT O' GOLD: Painkiller: Black Edition (already have it on Steam, but I guess having it on GOG too isn't so bad a thing)

I'm considering trying my hand at a 5 pot order but from the feedback I'm getting from this thread it's now come down to a very select few games now, either ones I already own or ones I don't care about. I'd love to have Deponia 3 or Memoria show up but more than likely I'm afraid I'll end up with an Ittle Dew, Aqua Kitty, Puddle or a bunch of games I already have in one form or another.
Cool Sale. I got some games off the list. Then I took my chances with pots of gold.

The Leprechauns were not kind to me.
Between sale picks, pots and 3 full price games I have added 21 good games to my shelf.
At an average of about $3.85 each!
Saved many tens of dollars.
My wish list is clear and I'm a happy man. :)

Thanks GOG.
It is an interesting sale, and I wouldn't be shocked if it was repackaged with something done in the future (it gets people to pay for crap they don't want after all). There were somethings I wish I'd known before rolling the dice. Namely that the games I was hoping for got pulled while I was at work, probably because people figured out how to know ahead of time what they were going to get. Leaving that door open probably guaranteed we'd be reduced to a small pool of controlled titles.

I don't think I could have picked a set I was less interested out of the questionable pool of games, but then it was a gamble. And with gambling

-the house always wins.
-you have to look at the money as entertainment expenses on the experience and not get tangled in on what you could have gained.
-probably always be better off paying for non-gambles

Leroux: Then again, it's perfectly fine to stay away from games if you have issues with their premise and to only buy what you think you will like. Especially since Painkiller is not just a bloody FPS but also a Horror game. If you're disappointed and disgusted enough that you regret the whole puchase and you haven't downloaded any of the other games yet, I'd suggest to write a Support ticket asking GOG to revert it, or at least turn it into a gift code that you can give away. They're fairly accomodating within their possibilities, just keep in mind that they don't work on the weekend.
I did download those games I wanted, though, and gifted my friend REUS. I have not downloaded the FPS, though.

I have tried those types of games in the past, and find them dull and disorienting more than anything else. Hopefully they'll be willing to meet me halfway, either with a gift code (and removing it from my library) or replacing it with a gift code for Smugglers V, which I would have purchased instead of the Pot if I'd know they were actually removing games from the "random" list as time went by...

Hm, in that case they might say it was part of the deal that it was a gamble, but you can try. Good luck! (And if worst comes to worst, you can at least hide it from sight in your library. ;) )

tinyE: Me again. Is someone actually complaining about getting a free game?
Yes, and people have been doing the same at earlier occasions when they it wasn't just a bonus for buying something.

GOG gives us a game for free as a christmas present, and people complain "I already had (or just didn't want) that game, give me something else!"

SCRATCH THAT
I realize it isn't but I just think it's silly to be this upset about a sale, especially this one. I suppose I should have just kept it to myself.

Lol. Seriously thought I missed some free game being given away by GOG when I saw your post :D
About the pot of gold, I guess it depends how much you invested in those. Personally I expected a bit more variety on the common games in the mix. So I do get the people who feel disappointed by what they got, especially if they got 4 or 5 pots of gold with their purchase and ended up with no game of interest.

I doubt GOG has ways to actually take personal wishlists into consideration during such promos, but that would be a great sale idea: "Buy a gold pot (or whatever it would be called then) for a fixed price, and you get a random game from your wishlist". Depending on what it is, the discount might be great or not so great, but whatever it turns out to be, you still end up with a game you actually wanted to try anyway, and the random part might be actually fun then and give people an incentive to buy more items from their wishlist instead of waiting for a 75% off sale or a cheap bundle.

I can understand being disappointed or upset, it's being this upset that floors me. I'm almost worried for them; I don't want anyone jumping off a bridge because they got a game they didn't want.
