Below is a summary of known facts. I've also included this info in first post of this topic.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GOG's King's Bounty: The Legend is version 1.7(35396) while original and official retail version () and versions from other digital distributors (Steam - [url=http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/kings_bounty_gog_version_is_bugged/post13]source, and GamersGate - source) are numbered 1.7(35234). GOG's build number is suggesting that GOG has the newer version. I do not know what are the advantages but it has never found before some additional bugs.

So far I have discovered two buggy things in GOG.com version: it has bugged garrison/reserve option/skill and does not display properly damage numbers during battle - both bugs are confirmed by others GOG's users and support.

1) bugged garrison/reserve
To encounter this bug:
a) start the game and skip tutorial.
b) at start you have army of three troops (3/5) - buy two additional troops of types you do not have in army to fill up empty slots (to have 5/5).
c) free one of the slots by putting one troop in castle's garrison (to have 4/5) and buy another troop of another different army to have again all five slots filled (5/5)
d) NOW click on unit which was put in garrison and it disappears - in any other (not from GOG) version you will have info: "no space"

There is no fix so far: I managed to discover that this disappeared troop was put and hidden in (at start) locked reserve slot! You can do the same with second unit (as you have two reserve slots in game). Third try with third unit will get you "no space" info" at last. So - even if you have not reserve unlocked you can put something into there - the problem is how to get them out? Anyway it is clearly a serious bug and the only solution so far seems to be: avoid clicking on your troop in garrison while having 5/5 army.

2) bugged display of numbers during battle
When you start a battle and your unit deals some damage to enemy unit (or vice versa) over attacked unit will appear two numbers located at the same place on screen - one number is damage the other is number of units killed. Since they are located in the same place sometimes it is hard to read them.

Temporary fix was found: Edit game.ini file and in place of "showflyingdead=2" type "showflyingdead=1". From now it will now show only damage number.

Weird thing is: these both above bugs have some connection with next part of the game, King's Bounty: Armored Princes - you may ask "what? why?".

ad 1) In KB:AP both reserve slots are available from the start of game, you do not need to unlock them. Why GOG.com version of KB:TL "thinks" the same that you can put something in reserve at start without unlocking them first?

ad 2) KB:AP is the game when you starts with "showflyingdead=2" in game.ini. All no GOG KB:TL versions I know starts with "showflyingdead=1" in game ini.

All in all, it looks like someone has used patch for KB:AP on GOG.com's KB:TL... Weird, isn't it?
i suggest u to post this thread also in the specific game forum, so it will be more useful.

That's actually good idea.

If you read my "older" parf of first post it has an info I posted this on subforum but for a longer period of time I haven't got any response so I've decided to repost it here, on main forum. And thanks to that we are maybe step closer to solution - now it is good time to include all this info also back on KB forum for KB owners.
After waiting LONG time for GOG support I've contacted 1C directly and I've just got email with good news for GOGers about King's Bounty! :D At the moment I can't say more because I need to go out quick but will explain all today later! :)
We have actually been working on this. It's just that the wheels of GOG grind slowly, if exceedingly fine. ;)

Well done, Lexor! Thank you so much for your efforts.
Also want to say thank you. Really good job with a happy end.
Edit1: Greets goes to Lexor in the first place and of course also to gog.
Edit2: The old installer was 1.0.0.3 and the new is 1.0.0.4, am I right?

As you all probably know, I'm fan of HoMM series. But after replaying it many times over and over again I was seeking something new or me - and that's why King's Bounty is my favorite purchase on GOG. And maybe that's why I dedicated a lot of time to make this title not buggy. After nearly 3 months of talk with GOG support I've decided this week to find a way to talk directly with developers.

And that was a blast! o.o

Today, nearly at the same time I've published my post about bugs in promo topic two thing happened, again, nearly at the same time.

First thing: I've received message that "we will give the right build to GOG ASAP" and they asked me to contact GOG's support next week. After next hour I've got another message with.... patch for me! Here is the link to download it. They are quick, aren't they?

Second thing: I've got PM from GOG's team with their(?) patch - it is the one Firek posted - link.

But weird thing now is: these patches do not look the same? They could do the same in the end, but one thing worries me. During my contact with GOG, they were saying they are working on "their" patch.. (and I was wondering all the time why do not just simply contact developer instead).

Now I do not know and still will need to investigate a few things:
a) does GOG used 1C's patch already?
b) is new full installer delivered by 1C, or is it made by GOG?

In the subforum Firek wrote that the patch and the new installer is a rollback, so I guess the patch is from gog itself. Now it's interesting what exactly 1Cs patch do - it's also a rollback or maybe just an update for the latest version? Have both the same version numbers?

Edit: Btw, I can't download Fireks patch from the promo thread. After 1MB the download stops and the package-file is broken. Tried it with Firefox and Comodo Dragon.

I can download both patches. They are quite different as I said.

If both patches are doing different things, in the end I think I would prefer to use official 1C patch (as it would be more compatible with updates in future). So far I haven't used any of them waiting for reply about differences.

If GOG's patch is "selfmade", I would also wait for full official version from 1C which should be delivered next week top to GOG and available to download.

Okay, that was too fast for my edit ;-) While I can't get the gog patch I checked the 1c patch. The installer itself is from 2008. It asks me for the directory, but the desciptions on top shows only symbols, so I guess the patch program is in cyrillc (don't have the language installed).

Edit: Installed Kings Bounty and tried to patch from 1C, but I get an error message. So the patch doesn't work for me.

Is this game receiving updates still?

Last patch was long time ago, but on Russian forum there is a topic started by moderator which lists problems with 1.7 so maybe there will be some patch in the end ;)
I've contacted developers but it seems I'll get some replies after the weekend ;)
