Honestly, is there a game that let's you play some sort of supreme ruler? I don't mean all those city building or rts games, but a realistic simulator. You know, you could be like a king, make decisions concerning your kingdom and it's people. Make allies and such?
Not city building or an rts? Do you mean like a 4X game?
you could have a look at "europa universalis 3" (and the expansions), might be the thing you want to play :)
Crusader Kings not enough?

Looks like there's a sequal coming too.

Oh yeah, all the cool people use Duke-avatar and play URW ;D

never played them, sry
What about King of Dragon Pass?
From the overview:
King of Dragon Pass is the saga of colonizing a magical land. You control the future of a ragged clan which has decided to settle the empty land of Dragon Pass. Your decisions determine whether they prosper over the course of a century, and whether they will be remembered forever as a great clan.

Of course, yours isn't the only clan which has emigrated to Dragon Pass. You will have to cooperate and compete with other clans of your own people, as well as folk you know nothing about. Each has their own personality.

Your goal is to become King of Dragon Pass, uniting all these people through diplomacy, magic, and battle. (The objective for a shorter game is to forge a tribe and remain king for ten years.)
I have both EU3 and Crusader Kings (which is one of the best games there is), but they are *not guite* the game i'm hoping to find. That Dragon Pass seems quite interesting :)

Thanks for the suggestions :)

Edit.
@Peke: Everyone should try Unreal World, it's a really, really good and addicting game :)

Well, there is a supremely good (and supremely old) presidente simulator called Hidden Agenda. It's basically free now, if you really want to play it straight you can visit the author's site (wikipedia, bottom) and donate a few pfennings to his cause(s).

In essence, it's Tropico before Tropico, but when shit get's real. Like, get real really fast, really hard. You will loose, no matter how good you are, and basically a rule of thumb victory is if you don't get killed or deported before your four year office run is over. I'm just saying here, if you want to be humiliated and need an ego hit, play this game at least once to experience the full force of "damn ungrateful lemmings".

GoJays2025: What about King of Dragon Pass?
YES!

Also, Lords of the Realm seems to fit the bill. And what about Majesty? Can you elaborate more on the type of gameplay you're looking out for?

I tried Majesty, it was "ok", but a bit too RTS. I even bought "Be A King 2" from gamersgate, and was really disappointed in that game...

Gameplay should be like: "more decision making, not the action" if that helps a bit. I can't really explain it thoroughly...

Have you guys played Dragon Age: Awakening? A bit like that when the people comes to see you at the meeting hall and make their questions and request...
Tropico might be what you're looking for. There is a city building side to it as well as the political side.

If you want something a bit nerdier than that there's always Dwarf Fortress. Although that might be a bit overkill in the nerdiness department.

I like Tropico 3, but it's not "the one". And I'm even aware of the Dwarf Fortress, but seem to be unable to comprehend it :D

You just made a one paragraph summary of hidden agenda. I know it's not a "kingdom", but gimme a break =)

You, me and 99.9% of the world, mate.

Yeah a medieval Tropic would be nice. There's a Roman one by the same developers that uses the same engine as Tropico 3. But to me the demo seemed a lot simpler and drier than Tropico.
If you are wondering about King of Dragon Pass, here's a game we played a year and half ago. It's a collaboration between 10 or so players, each player playing a year and then switching to the next one, unfortunately the text is in Finnish.

The actual story begins at post 32, and contains a lot of spoilers, especially towards the end (post 400 or something). I still think the first 50-100 game-related posts are worth reading if you are interested :)
