Well, do as you wish, but for me Unity is not ready for netbooks in it's current state, and they broke (in my opinion) the default gnome session with it. I'll wait for 11.10. Unity could be great on a beefy machine though. I'm testing it in VirtualBox (on my desktop) and so far it's running well, but I can't get used to it.

Thanks for you attention, and good luck to implement the downloader in full java. I'm eager to test it :)

Care to share your reasoning?

Personally I think it works very well, both on my own Eee 1001PX (10" @ 1024x600, 1,66 GHz Atom, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD) and on an Eee 701 at work (7" @ 800x480, 630 MHz Celeron, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB SSD soldered to the mobo).

The unity "start menu" and mac-inspired top menu bar doesn't feel optimal for my regular laptop though, a Thinkpad R500 (15" @ 1680x1050, 2.53 GHz Core2Duo, 2 GB RAM) where screen real estate isn't nearly as limited.

And of course, it really doesn't like multi-screen setups (especially if the screens use different resolutions, but that may be a problem of Linux systems in general) while the normal desktop works quite well.

Bear in mind, these observations are for Unity itself, not for applications or system settings. Many important dialog boxes are simply much too large for a low-resolution screen, with no way of changing their size - and in those few cases they support maximising the window, the contents are not adjusted to fit the small height.

I wanted to give JGoGDownloader a try, but it failed during login although I am quite sure I provided the right credentials. I am running Windows 7 here. Any ideas how to fix this?
