desperados: sorry i can't argue with you personally as i'm neutral to everyone else i just criticize systems and thoughts, i don't target a person and take his thoughts as a compass showing the right way. :)
i did post the topic because clearly some high rep people here see themselves as the owner of the all posts..they do reply all topics and critize everthing i just critize this...you just DON'T need to be helpful..you are the nanny of the board or anything..i'm saying to this all people who spend their 12 hours everyday

You seem to have confused having an interest in keeping this a productive and healthy online community with expressing ownership over the forums. None of us who are regular contributors own anything here, but we do want this place to stay as comfortable as it has been so far in our time here. If that means we might post topics or replies that seem to direct other members towards more "acceptable behavior' (for want of a better word), then so be it. If someone asks for help from the community, you don't have to help them, but we are going to, regardless of what you think about it. That's just being a good member of the community as far as I am concerned.

heh :) if you start to sacrifice of your free time for others systematically and everyday then this might get out of control and sweep you off to a different level which is it's you being not good to yourself but only to others..coming here should not be a job of us i could get bored if i would come here all the time to help or whatever...seeing all the same people again and again is just a downside because i feel sorry for their lives...like people start talking about having Weclocks' mascott...this is no funny it's just sad knowing that member flushed down thousands of hours to be in this community everyday
we should respect ourselves first then respect others...

I don't have much else to do when I'm at work and I'm not getting any calls. Plus I enjoy the social aspect, there are many like-minded people here who enjoy helping, enjoy games, and enjoy many other things.. things we have in common. It's quite nice.

Sorry, I was a tad irritated when I did that post. And I'm not here that often.
I do like "I can't argue with you personally" however. I am so going to use that with my Manager when she is back from leave.... Good times :)

You know, some people actually like helping other people, it is not a sacrifice at all, nor is it a bad thing. It has nothing to do with a lack of self-respect, in fact, it is a pretty good indicator of a healthy level of self-respect, that we feel our knowledge may be useful to others.
As for the amount of time some of us spend here, I can't speak for everyone, but at least in my case, I work a job that keeps sitting in front of PC all day and sometimes into the night. That can get a bit boring, so checking the forums (not just the GOG ones) every once in a while for some distraction is a really good thing.

yeah, I also do some content contributions at wegame.com. I uploaded "Zoey Startled The Witch!" and that was on Diggs front page a couple days ago.

yeah send my regards to your bitchy boss Karl :P
having a good community or not does not matter for GOG..it should still be selling the games without us posting here..:) there are other forums helpful for your job if you are interested in IT section but some of us see this posting as a serious job and doing it everyday..i'm against it because you might start to lose your creative mind and sight of sharp thinking sense if you would start to see this posting stuff as a job that you have to do.. and focus on getting more rep and rep
edit: i need to go :D it was nice of you clearing some issues for me that was staying as questions in my mind :P see you friends, spend less time on GOG..those games deserve you to be played

What on earth are you talking about? I think that if anyone is so addicted to the possibility of getting rep points, they've got a much more serious issue than just posting on a forum, they're fucking NUTS.
Sure it's a cheaper life destroying addiction that WOW but thats about where the positives end...
Oh dear.

Certainly initial sales, for sure, but customer experience is important as well, I like to think that I'm helping them to provide a better customer experience to users who may have issues or may need help with a game. :) And again, I work in a tech support field, so helping people is not only my hobby, it's my job.
I find that when I play games, I get wrapped up in them to a certain degree, and that it may become difficult if I also am having to watch my kids, to get up and leave when necessary. Having this hobby, of helping people on the forums is not only easy, but easy to walk away from.
Well, I'm organised, I'm dedicated to my career, I've always got a pen...
