$5+ for steam keys, which means the average will be higher. If you do buy it, I'll also suggest giving everything to charity.

AFnord: As far as I can tell, the difference between buying from them directly and from GOG was that if you buy through them, you get a steam key and the ability to download the game from humble. So in the end it was a matter of choosing between which service you prefer, you did not get a better deal by ordering directly from them (unless you consider having two locations to download from a better deal).
The deciding factor for me was that according to Almost Human, they got a better cut from the Humble Store.

SirPrimalform: There is a way of buying Botanicula without giving Amanita any money, just make sure you give your entire payment to the charity.
I don't really care to own the game. I just think GOG got hosed and plan to support them without supporting Amanita. I thought about buying Botanicula here since fewer people will now that it's in a Humble Bundle but realized Amanita would get some of the money from their licensing agreement with GOG.

Which is what I'd do anyway, since I have all games already except Botanicula. And they surely don't need money for messing around with GOG that way.

You don't really pre-order for the best deal, necessarily. But yeah. This is a bit extreme. Kind of annoyed by it. Amanita isn't exactly reaping much goodwill from pre-orderers here, I think.

This is exactly what GOG has been warning us about.

Now even new release games are devalued.

Horrible choices by Amanita. They should be ashamed of using GOG for publicity then undercutting GOG's sales like this. Not to mention undercutting their own profits.

I wouldn't know for sure, but as i see the 10%-15% discount on preorders, is what really makes it work. Because else, I'd just buy the game, when I hav enothing else to play or the exchange rate is favourable. But with that little discount, you still feel like you support the dev in a significant way, and think you get a pretty good deal. Since new releases Never, Ever get discounted at least in the first 6 months or so (unless the game is really terrible).

And that just kinda changed a bit, don't know if for good or bad.

It depends on your preferences but lots of people love Steam and achievements. The Steam version comes with achievements and all the other services Steam provides. And you'd get a DRM-free version on top of it, neutralizing any concerns about Steam being DRM or any other downsides to Steam. Besides, noone could prevent you from selling or giving away your Steam key and keep the DRM-free version, so you'd basically get two copies of the game from Almost Human for the same price, while the GOG version only offers you a few additional avatars or pics.

It's true that this Botanicula Bundle is by far the most cheeky action by a dev since GOG has started dealing with indies, I'm just saying the tendency was there with other devs, too. And it was known before the bundle - maybe not very well, but one could have informed oneself about it - that Amanita was planning to offer the full soundtrack to anyone who bought directly from them. That's why I passed on GOG's offer of getting Botanicula for one dollar less and waited for the version including the soundtrack.

And I'm sure the people at Gamer's Gate are a bit annoyed with this as well. GG might be bigger, and thus will probably take less notice of this, but I would still guess that they will hesitate to offer pre-orders for Amanita games again.

I think I'll pass on this bundle; I'm getting bored of the unnumbered HIBs anyway. If I do buy it, I'll just give everything to charity which would be a first because I always distribute the money between the developers and the humble tip only.

And actually Steam don't sell Botanicula ;) Amanita played a suicidal card on themselves with this stunt.

Kooky is provided with an English dub only, with voices provided by Czech actors with perfectly dreadful accents :(

(It includes a fairly bizarre EULA, too.)
