triock: New bonus goal @ 4500 - Atlantis Evolution
Also, 1 game minimum now.
That's a very nice bonus, if you ask me !
Just to explain myself:I have the retail version of the game and played through it up until a point towards the end where I got stuck...somehow(I have a tendency to get stuck in games). But the important is this is a great point and click. In order to be concise, some basic points: It has a 1st person perspective(similar to Egypt 3 that was in the previous Microids bundle). You(the player you I mean) click towards the direction you want to move, click on objects to take them, there's an inventory,a combining objects mechanism...You know, normal point'n'click stuff. And,before I forget, the artworks are also pretty nice.
As for the plot: It has some depth:as per the Groupees blurb, you are a journalist in a ship heading ...um, somewhere-I can't remember where-, but, nevermind, the destination isn't that important, as you(the player/character I mean yet again-from now on consider that you=the player/character) never arrive there. Instead, a storm breaks out, the journalist ends up on a small boat which gets sucked by a whirlwind-and the whirlwind leads straight to-you guessed it-Atlantis ! Only this isn't the generic Atlantis as seen in Atlantis 1-3 and co.(I think at least-haven't played those quite yet)*Here may be some spoilers* This is an orwellian type state where "Gods"(I highly doubt they were the real gods of Atlantis and the game also let such hints) monitor the people's activities by putting some kind of special crystals in their heads on birth, which crystals could then be traced by some sort of god statues-and whoever doesn't obey those gods is put down by the guards. As you may realise, the journalist is thus dangerous, as he doesn't have such a crystal in his head and can't thus be monitored. Soon, the guards try to arrest him, but he escapes ansd is then approached by a small resistance group that want him to help them get rid of the gods' tyrrany(the blurb is accurate in that point-well, it is accurate in all points but doesn't manage to convey how the game really is). He accepts hoping to find a way home after doing so-and that's the basic part of the plot-I wouldn't want to put too many spoilers.
And now some other essential stuff-such as the potential size of the game. Normally Groupees give DRM-free copies in a zip format. The retail version that I have was contained in 6 CDs-if a CD is considered to contain 700 MBs, the zip file will probably be about 4 GBs-just letting you know in case you have a not-so-good internet connection.
And that's it from me-when I'm excited about something, I do get too chatty! But those games you know-Atlantis Evolution and Egypt 3 that is- were games I played on my childhood and have a special status for me. I may have not bought Egypt 3 as a digital copy with the 1st Microids, but I'll be happy if I get a digital backup for Atlantis Evolution(plus, it's easier to install a game from 3 CDs rather than 6!).
