You just gotta love GOG - at Christmas or any other time! :)
I believe you actually had this price policy since you opened the site, but this is a nice reminder, given how a certain company just threw their clients' loyalty and trust to the garbage bin.
This move on your behalf might be opportunistic, but I don't care, it's the right thing to do. Keep it up and don't you ever become evil. Like them.
It's funny that you point this out now, as Steam can fuck right off now that they've decided on scamming extra money out of Euro customers. Plus, you guys actually work on getting all these games running on XP! You guys rule.

In fact, that's not the fault of Valve. Valve only caved in to the wishes of the major publishers, which want to preserve their regional price system, in which Europeans pay higher prices than, for example, customers in the USA. Europeans are no longer allowed to take advantage of the lower dollar value (against the Euro). They are forced back to their "traditional" higher prices. And now, publishers like EA can open up their back catalogue to platforms like Steam, because now, they can keep on ripping off us stupid Europeans.

I don't really care. I stopped buying anything from EA after Spore anyway. The only games I have on Steam, are the Valve titles I've bought retail. So it doesn't really change anything for me. I just confirms my opinions of the big publishers.

I'd be paying the equivalent of 20$ at retail for Team Fortress 2, and not 20€, so I don't really see this "now the prices are normal" angle. Now the prices are 40% above retail, or even as high as +100%. To use an EA game as an additional example, Mass Effect is the equivalent of 30€ at retail, 45€ at Steam. Uh... what?
+1 to GOG
ok the way I understand this is that no matter where you live the game will only cost as much as it is listed! Well I got my credit card bill and I can say I wasn't charged what the game listed! I was charged $9.99 US which came out to like $12 CND. Don't get me wrong it's well worth the $12 but i'm just trying to make sense of this!!! Anyone else have this issue?
It is listed as US dollars for everybody in the world, which would be what you got charged.

The list price is $9.99 US, so you were charged correctly. What the policy means is, whereever you live, you will always pay the same price in US dollars (not in the local currency).
