RayRay13000: No announcement or warning to users about this?

Maybe I should spend time tomorrow downloading and backing up all of my games. This is getting ridiculous.
You do know that the game stays in your library even when it's pulled from circulation, yes?

You also realize that when a publisher demands a game be pulled immediately, a distributor doesn't exactly have a lot of leeway in terms of letting customers know ahead of time, yeah?

CowboyBebop: How likely is Gamersgate to pull a game from your shelf? I have a copy of the game there that I haven't downloaded yet and I won't be able to for several more days. While it's still there now how likely is it to stay there?
Very unlikely. I have plenty of games on there that are no longer on sale. I think there was only a problem once with a Serious Sam game, but if there was, that was fixed.

There's been a few times when removed games have (temporarily) gone missing from GOG game shelves.

Cryostasis is still on Steam.
Nvm.

Cryostasis was weird. I did play it through and enjoyed it, but thinking about the plot just makes my heard hurt.
Weird, wonder what license agreement ran out. Doubt it was a best seller anyway, niche game and not really GOG's market.

Glad I got it though.
This kind of thing is why I am worried about the Atari games here with Atari's future now uncertain. There are a number of titles I want and I am planning to buy them soon while the getting is still good.

I am also now in the habit of immediately downloading and redundantly backing up my GOG games right after purchase or updates to them.

We don't get fooled again! No! No!

I recently bought Cryostasis on Steam when it was cheap. I am glad I picked it up when I did. Who knows if they'll be pulling it next.

Well it's still on Steam. Guess I'll decide whether or not to pick it up tomorrow.

The game is on Amazon still for $7.56. Main customer review states it is DRM Free.

Huh...interesting. Thanks for that.

It might be a specific region problem and GOG requires worldwide distribution.
This was a game I was thinking about getting eventually. :(

Unlikely as it's been removed from sites that do regionally restrict games as well. It's likely not gone from Steam yet due to Valve office hours and the fact that the sometimes drag their feet in removing games - such as when the Space Rangers games were removed.
low rated
That's okay that Cryostasis was removed, because it sucked. I wish it had been removed sooner so as to have spared me from wasting my money.

The bugs and horribly unoptimized engine aside that make the game pretty unplayable on even really good hardware, the gameplay was redundant and boring, the horror mechanics were childishly cheap and un-scary. The plot was pretty interesting, but not interesting enough to stand on it's own so as to redeem the gameplay.
