First closed beta access keys distributed today!

We're excited to announce the launch of the closed Windows and Mac OS X multiplayer beta of CD Projekt RED's board game tie-in to the universe of Geralt of Rivia - <span class="bold">The Witcher Adventure Game</span>. Participants of the closed beta program will be among the first to help test and refine some of the multiplayer components of our upcoming <span class="bold">GOG Galaxy</span> service. The number of beta access codes we'll send out today will be limited, and the recepients will be picked among the users who have pre-ordered [url=http://www.gog.com/thewitcher3/en]The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.com (each selected participant will be getting a set of two keys: one for them and one to give away to a friend). With the distribution of next batches of invitations planned as the event advances, players interested in joining the tests can still navigate to GOG.com/Galaxy and sign up for a chance to participate.

The Witcher Adventure Game takes players on a journey across the world of the Witcher as they assume the roles of four distinct characters known from the books and video games: Geralt of Rivia, monster slayer; Triss Merigold, cunning sorceress; Yarpen Zigrin, dwarven warrior; and Dandelion, roguish bard. Each character has unique skills and multiple ways of overcoming obstacles - the choice is yours: do you fight your way to victory, call on your charm or try your hand at diplomacy? It's the true spirit of board gaming brought straight to your computer screen. Set in the mature and brutal world of The Witcher the game features 4 unique heroes with different skills and approaches to problem solving. With clear, simple rules and intuitive mechanics, tons of quest cards allow players to tell a new tale every time they play. Look adventure in the eye in a world you'll fall in love with!

The purpose of the beta is to test both The Witcher Adventure Game as well as some parts of the GOG Galaxy online infrastructure powering the multiplayer portion of the digitized board game. Over the course of the beta, new cards, mechanics and improvements will be added to polish the game further and deliver you the best possible experience - if you find yourself among the number of beta testers, please stay with us and check for updates regularly. We really do count on your feedback!

Finally, a short but important notice: while the beta is limited to the online portion of the game only, rest assured that the full game will also feature single-player modes such as “hot seat” and “human vs AI”. In other words yes, the game won't be exclusively multiplayer, and you will be able to play it offline, outside our optional GOG Galaxy client.

figgymanna: I thought Witcher 3 pre-order guaranteed you two beta keys.
Yes, this is correct - every user who pre-ordered TW3 on GOG will receive two keys: one for them and one for their friend. We're only just started sending the keys out, so they will be delivered in batches, to scale everything properly and offer best possible game stability and experience :). Nevertheless every person will receive their two keys and it's not going to be a very long wait - don't worry!

ShadowWulfe: Daw. I would have preordered W3 here, but I dunno how collector's edition works.

Ranbir: So only a select bunch of Pre-orders? Not sure that was clear in the W3 page description.

Still, hopefully we have priority? It seemed one of the extra benefits, get beta access + code for friend.
Please let me clarify: This announcement is for a digital board game named "The Witcher Adventure Game" and has nothing to do with "Witcher 3."

EDIT: Nevermind. I misread your posts.

Maybe I should give The Witcher 2 another go?
Or maybe not... Ugh!

Hah, if only. There is a copy of Witcher 2 collector's edition at a little store where I live, and I have been licking my lips/waiting for the opportunity to get my hands on that pendant for quite awhile.

If you want the tangible stuff, that's somewhere else. GOG's preorder pack includes a lot of awesome freebies/extras, but they're all digital only, although you will get to help Projekt RED and GOG directly AND of course it's DRM-free.

Oh better get it before I find out where the store is. ^^
Been looking around for the second CE as I have the first and have a preorder for the third.
crap, I voted against Galaxy after Divinity:OS was postponed because of it ...
but hey GOG, now you can persuade me Galaxy is a good client! :D
In the Witcher, you collected boob-cards and now it is actually a card game. Hopefully there are some pairs. ;)

It's a DRM-free PC game. It can be modded... ;-)

There was a first? T_T

I remember I never got Shogun 2 because I saw a collector's edition with a magnificent samurai statue, later read up on it to find out not available in US.
Edit: wrong thread.

I'm curious about this as well. Are beta keys from Witcher 3 pre-orders going out in waves, or did the pre-order just raise one's chances of being invited to the beta?
Bit confused about the preorder code thing too. Do we have to wait until there is a 'code' to enter?

sindweller: i can't wait for something to bind us together more...
Oh, I've this ring here...
Doesn't look like an adventure game... looks more like a board game or collectible card game.

Yeah I went for it on release just because I caught some talks from cdpr about drm and piracy and such a while before release. Don't treat me like an idiot and thief and I'll shower you with money.
Not to say I didn't fail in school and still sail the high seas but we all got our flaws. :)
