Round 11: Crusaders too Strong to Hold Back
Stronghold Crusader, the winner of our XXIII-th Century Battle of the Games, is available now for only $3.99. Build the castle, conquer the heathen, repel the infidels 60% off for the next 24 hours. You can also claim the English Royal Crown in Lords of the Realm: Royal Edition for $3.59.

Today’s battle brings two indie games into the area, where we see which game you favor as they take very different approaches to providing you with the best entertainment that money can buy.

Round 12: The Whispered World vs Trine
The Whispered World is a visually stunning point-and-click adventure game with hand-painted backgrounds and traditional hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation. Sadwick, a 12-year old introspective clown, needs to go on a journey to stop the approaching end of the world. The Whispered World is a magical combination of a fairy tale, adventure game, and heart-warming story great for both kids and adults. If you enjoy funny with a dose of melancholy, vote for The Whispered World.
Trine is a physics-based action platformer with stunning visuals and great soundtrack. The game won GameSpot's E3 Editors' Choice Award for being a flawless example of how a modern platform game should work--a simple idea (three characters with unique abilities), something special (physics based puzzles and challenges), and brilliant execution (just look at the game!). Trine is not an epic journey but an incredibly entertaining action game for everyone.

Wow, at long last a voting where I don't have both games already! In fact, I have neither! So I presume I'm fine no matter whichever wins.

Whispered World costs more though, so maybe I want the 60% discount on it then. I am more interested in Trine actually, but I will probably get both.

I have enough Trine already, so for me the choice is obvious :P
Have neither (on GOG.com at least), interested on both (on GOG.com at least), vote goes to the more expensive one.
Damn you gog, I'm overspending (again)

theadam: Are you sure? Just checked and it says $29.99 which is a lot more than $14.99 on GOG (prior to tomorrow's discount), and even more than free :)

jamyskis: It's free in the US. Not in Europe.
As noted, it's part of the Unlimited PC Play program in the US, so it's free as long as I have a subscription. Which I do, because I am a hopeless console junkie. Even though the Unlimited PC Play program has about 400 games, there's only 40 or so good ones, if even, but I have found a few nice gems. Sword of the Stars and Civ 4 in particular.

DProject: Gotta go with the Finnish competitor here, even though I already have Trine on Steam.
I see it this way. As I am probably going to buy both here, voting for Whispered World will yield:

- I will save money because 60% dicount goes on the higher priced game.
- Yet, as I am more interested to Trine, the Trine developers get more money from me as their game is discounted less.

Win-win situation. I pay less, but still give more money to the game for which I care more. :)

So it's not free...

Voted for TWW, will buy it immediately with 60% off. Beautiful adventure with soundtrack and making of videos. It's enough for me :)
Already own both on Steam .... Any chance you could check my wishlist for tomorrow's battle? :D
My vote goes to Trine, I played a demo of it a while back and really liked it, don't really remember why I never got it. Hope it wins to save $2 extra bucks tomorrow because I don't know about you but those two extra bucks are very useful as this BOTG deals keep coming.

Depends on how you look at it. I've been happily buying Gamefly on a yearly basis for about 3 or 4 years now just for console games, and felt I was getting a fair deal. The UPP program launched earlier this year, and hasn't changed my fees any. So for me, it's a free bonus that I get.
Hmm well, Trine seem to be coming out as the runner up. I want to get a second copy of it on GOG, and I suppose that's worth $6 to me. The Whispered World is a fun game even though I haven't finished it when I played it before. I might give it another try soon, it looks like it deserves a second chance.
Voted for The Whispered World .

It's "free", only if you are a Gamefly member ... meaning you pay for Unlimited PC Play. For every one else it is 29.99. The Gamefly membership is 15.95 or 22.95USD per month depending on which plan you choose. So no ... it's not really free at all.

I don't vote today as I'm not interested in any of these games.

By the way...

GOG.com: Round 11: Crusaders too Strong to Hold Back
Stronghold Crusader, the winner of our XXIII-th Century Battle of the Games, is available now for only $3.99.
Didn't you want to write XIIIth century instead of XXIII? I think XIII is the correct, but I may think wrong.
I want both, but have wanted to play Trine longer. Therefore, Trine got my vote this time around.
I think this is the first 'left hand side' one that's winning isn't it? ")
