Dungeon Keeper, Crusader: No Remorse and Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, we took some time off from EA releases, but promised to bring back more great titles from this publisher in late summer. The time has come to say farewell to the summer and take you all gamers back to the Old School with the release of more EA classic games. Be sure to check back this Thursday to see for yourself what the next batch of classic games from Electronic Arts will be!

Tygracek: I would like to know WHY there are no expansions included in the EA games downloads :-(

I don´t complain, nor say "Without the expansions I will never buy it", but it´s strange. There are so many games in completele, gold, diamond etc. editions... why not just these too?

Please could it answer somebody from GOG?
They have, look at my post above, 377. GoG staff have made numerous comments that they are in the process of trying to secure the rights to the expansions that are missing but it's more complex then simply talking to EA and saying 'we want this, we'll give you such and such for it.' and working from there.

wvpr: But every expansion, to every game, from at least four formerly independent companies? It can't all be asset rights. Magic Carpet's expansion was purely a mission pack, no new content that I can remember.
Again, I don't know the exact details, I don't think anyone is and GoG can't give that information out while they're at the negotiating table. It's very unprofessional for them to do it, so anything like that would have to be looked into by someone independent of the situation. Try google, that's how I found out about the Wing Commander expansion thing. Hell I've been saying it all day.

Ok, thank you for the information. I have to admit I didn´t read all posts in this forum, so I didn´t see such comment from GOG.
So I have a query, and I apologise if it's answered already. I was a massive Dungeon Keeper 2 fan but...

1) Is this game compatible with Windows 7 64 bit? I ask because the game was in a weird software place between Windows ME and XP and is notoriously crashy.

2) Likewise the level editor was never "finished" it was shoved out the door and Bullfrog swallowed whole. Has this one been finished?

epmode: After that initial incredible press conference, this EA situation has been pretty disappointing. Sucks that there isn't any official word besides "no comment".

StingingVelvet: They've made official comments like a dozen times dude. Getting the licensing done for the expansions and extras has been harder than anticipated with the EA titles. When they get the licenses for the content they will distribute it.
You mean 'IF they the get the licenses". Looks extremely unlikely to me that will happen.

Tachikoma: I hope we get the Syndicate or system shock games
System Shock 1 might be do-able (the legal context was no different to Underworld at the time) but System Shock 2 is a whole different kettle of fish... I imagine the legal wrangling over that one would be a nightmare. It's a great shame as it was a great game.

I think there's a good reason why we've never seen a System Shock 3 too. Ownership of the IP is very muddy.
what abouth command and conquer for win 95 or red alert
is it possible to get it

I am pretty sure EA has released them for free by now.

Maybe EA had some kind of blanket policy to secure the core properties and ignore everything else, never thinking they'd re-release it.
Legends of Lore Series. Im hoping at least one of them.

System Shock, while I'd appreciate seeing it here just to shut up everyone who has said that they wanted SS1 and 2 on here, is a total minefield. If GOG has figured out a way to go through the minefield without setting off any of the mines, then they're going to make so many people very, very happy. Me, on the other hand, not so much. Never been a "scary sci-fi" kinda guy, save for Metroid.

in general im a believer in this dogma:
NO EXPANSIONS NO BUY
sorry :-(

alas, in any case, i think it will be difficult to see expansions here after the games have been just released, because GOG has no if not the least interest to do that, that is to say, to put a lot of efforts into trying to add contents to something sold at the same price.. :(

As far as I was aware The guys that made BioShock were the same guys who made SS2 but could not make another System Shock game because EA owned the rights - but what's the rest of the story?
I know SS1 wasn't made by the same studio but I thought that was pretty much EA in-house
I'm surprised EA never got sued over them though, for blatantly ripping off Star Wars Light Sabres, Star Trek Phasers and the Star Trek 'LCARS' interface!
They could always do what Bohemia Interactive did and just change the name. Operation Flashpoint became ArmA (Armed Assault). They've even re-released the original under the ArmA name name so the (completely unrelated series) ties in... somehow.

Anamon: The Ultima Collection would be very nice...

Personally I'll have my fingers crossed for seeing Wing Commander games on here. I only own III, IV, and Prophecy so far, and would love to get the early ones.
Yeah, did pretty well on that... I'll be available for further GOG-related prophecies using my time-space bending vision 8)
I'm calling Crusader 2 and Magic Carpet 2......maybe we get Populous and Wasteland bundled together since they are so old. I kinda am doubting System Shock now but I have a feeling Syndicate is at the end of the secret release list.
