Anybody have success getting MOO2 to work on a Samsung Stratosphere?

Tormentfan: I don't think I'll have tto much trouble, it's a good little tablet.

adambiser: That may be true, but tap interfacing != DOS interfacing.
Pretty much, I think this would work fine for some genres of games, but mostly point and click games. Anything that used a keyboard, which was most of the games up until Win 3.0, isn't going to be an authentic experience and may not even play correctly.
I recently bought Dosbox Turbo for Android and tried to use it with GOG games, almost no luck. So if somebody succeeded, I would appreciate some help/hints/etc.

I try to explain my problem, based on Heroes of Might and Magic 2. At the end of the GOG-supplied dosbox config file, the autoexec section includes the mounting, etc. like this:

------------------
@ECHO OFF
mount C "."
imgmount d ".\homm2.inst" -t iso -fs iso
c:
cls
heroes2.exe
exit
-----------------

This homm2.inst file is not really an iso, but rather a text file full of link-like instructions to content like the audio tracks, etc. Although I substitute the path for the one, applicable for my tablet (e.g. /mnt/sdcard/blabla), dosbox doesn't mount the image file. Problem is, most of the games I'm interested to run, like SimCity 2k uses the same approach, mounting a not-really-iso file. It may work on windows, but doesn't work on android and cannot figure out why.

Thanks in advance, any hints appreciated!
I use DOSbox Turbo, and it's great. Only game I'm having real issues with is Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers.

If anyone's managed to get it running full speed with speech, I'd be very grateful for some tips. At the moment, it's either silent or a slideshow.

cuppsy: Just to toss my two cents in, take a look at Dropbox. I typically install my games locally (on my Linux box) and will sometimes symlink the folder for a game I'm currently playing (Zork, ATM) to a Dropbox folder. Then download/sync it on my phone (N900 with Maemo, but would be the same for Android essentially) and I can continue my game on the go. Just a little tidbit for anyone looking into DOSBox on their mobile device.
That's a fantastic idea. I use Dropbox to sync writing and such between my laptop and desktop, but for some reason I never thought of using it to sync game saves.

EDIT: And for those who don't know, check out the Android version of ScummVM. Is free and works quite well.

Then would you share a sample config file, how is mounting the iso files look like at you?

Well, I don't have HoMM2, but Descent 2 uses the same .inst file, and I managed to get that running nicely.

The command I used was

imgmount d sdcard/dosbox/hdd/descent/descent_ii.inst -t iso -fs iso

I did find that:

imgmount d descent_ii.inst -t iso -fs iso

didn't work, even though it was working from within the right directory, so try putting in the full filepath if you weren't doing so before.

It's not an ISO that's true. What it is is a renamed .CUE file. Sometimes it'll point to a renamed .BIN file (renamed to .GOG), other times to a list of .OGG files, for example.
I wish google would hurry up and release a full desktop version of Android.

yes I know that it would just be a castrated version of the Linux desktop OS, but it still would be a massive step forward on Linux getting more mainstream development attention on entertainment software.

(AKA games)

Have you tried using the DosBox Manager? You setup a shortcut to the executable and it creates it's own conf file. Most of the common tweaks are adjustable within the manager (cycles, RAM, ect) and the rest can be changed by directly modifying the Conf files just like you normally would. It's also nice because when you open the app it gives you a bookshelf with images of floppy disks for your games, it's kinda like the GOG shelf.
I just ponied up for Dosbox Turbo for my Transformer. I may have to see if I can dig up my copy of X-Wing and borrow one of the joysticks from the office. :P

I wish I could say that about my workplace.

Do you intend to borrow the joystick like I borrow post-it notes from work or more like how I "borrow" surge protectors and keyboards from work?

Since they actually need to use the joysticks to do their work, it would be a bit of a dick move to take the joystick home.

Don't you currently have 3 nice boxed joysticks sitting in the offices? You wouldn't want to send out any faulty products now, would you?

P.S. Assuming one of those joysticks is meant for me, you can "test" it a bit longer, I won't mind.
@Stevedog13: I'm using dosbox manager, but I tend to write manually the autoexec section (I'm a newbie to dosbox). Anyway, thanks for the hint, will try it today.

@Wishbone: Thanks for the explanation, it helps. Hopefully I will have success today, although still I would appreciate if somebody (who was successful) could show me a sample config. :)
