Steam is last client that can be considered drm-free.
And JFG with ZP is not only drm free store and not started as it. Same as GOG. Its started before 2014 and they are still not only the store.

What do you consider to be stable? PCGamingWiki says it never goes above 45. You might also want to use novert, if you're going to play with the mouse.

Way I see it, as much as I'm a fan of GOG, as long as games are available DRM-free, I really don't care which platform it's on (as long as it's not itch). That said, it would benefit people to be able to buy games DRM-free from more than one store. I'm not a fan of exclusivity in gaming.

As for the first statement: no, it's not solely the publisher's or dev's decision to push platform exclusives, rather, it is a mutual decision which likewise involves the exclusive-hosting platform, who could always object to exclusivity conditions if they felt like doing the right thing for consumers.

As for ZP being a "threat to GOG," I have no idea where that notion is coming from, but it's not at all what the OP of this thread is suggesting.

The premise of the OP of this thread is not that ZP in on the verge of causing GOG to go bankrupt or anything like that. Rather, the premise is that ZP is causing some games which should be & used to be available to buy on GOG, not to be available to buy on GOG any more, because ZP has converted former GOG game(s) into ZP-exclusive games, when they ought not to have done so IMO.

I don't see ZOOM PLATFORM being able to poach games from GOG. ZOOM PLATFORM just isn't big enough -- or able to add enough value to the proposition -- to get publishers to release there over GOG (think the STEAM / GOG relationship but on a much smaller scale). With that said...

A number of people started actively conversing about the title here on the forum (in my case spurred mainly by a former forum member's glowing review) including the question "Why isn't this game on GOG?" Not long after these discussions, GOG released CURSE: THE EYE OF ISIS.

Now, had a deal already been in the works for a GOG release of the game? Possibly... but...

... my guess is that GOG simply "overlooked" a small, older title that didn't have a huge following. When they saw a few people were very interested, they probably looked into acquiring the game, found out it was dirt cheap to acquire, and started selling it (heck, it now somewhat regularly goes on discount for .79 cents!).

So, that is how I see ZOOM PLATFORM influencing GOG, but...

... unless ZOOM PLATFORM sees a huge influx of money, I don't see them being in a position to poach anything (although I can see a few indie devs / publishers who may have been turned down by GOG migrating toward ITCH and ZOOM PLATFORM). And if the casual PC gamer still doesn't know what GOG is, I can't imagine them knowing ZOOM PLATFORM, a site that doesn't (last time I checked) come up high on any search engine... and that makes many think -- after recent events -- of realtime streaming / conferencing.

What? Steam is not a drm free client, when you need it installed to play your games. Sure steam gives developers the option to implement steam drm. But with steam having monopoly on PC gaming what options do they really have?

I have to many games that require steam to be played. Even when using programs to remove steam drm.

Why did Zoom-Platform release a game (or games, plural, not sure) on Steam?

I'll be honest, since learning this it has kind of shaken my confidence in Zoom-Platform as a DRM-free platform. Reason being, why would a store that seems to be so vigorously in favor of DRM-free gaming release on the monopsony store that enshrined DRM upon gaming?

Answer: money.

There are certain people who started or signed a boycott where GOG is supposed to stop selling games on Epic Games store with Galaxy. They used ZP as a stellar example of a 100% DRM-free store. And now this is totally fine. Isn't it ironic? LOL.

No one said GOG is not using steam for money. ZOOM using steam for money is not a bad thing. Maybe people will realize is just another business that needs money to survive.
