The controller looks great, but is too much expensive!
$150? It seems a little pricey. I thought a $60 Dual Shock 4 was expensive... To me this looks like a normal Xbox controller with interchangeable bottom buttons really...
Waiting for all the morons to come into my job and ask to reserve them.
As PC gamers, we should not be at all surprised by a $150 controller. After all, there are gaming keyboard/mouse combos that cost over $200. Any decent joystick will cost $150 minimum too. I did get a Thrustmaster T16000M for only $50. It has hall effect sensors but at $50 there were serious compromises in its design too.

I think generally you get what you pay for when it comes to controllers. At least that has been my experience with all the keyboard/mice/gamepads/joysticks that I have bought over the years,

That said, I wouldn't get this new $150 gamepad simply because I only need gamepads on PC for 2D platformers. I prefer the d-pad to be in the primary position. So I'd rather get something like Logitech F313 or SteelSeries Stratus XL for a fraction of the price. But for other people, maybe the $150 is worth it.

Did someone say ThrustMaster

Dont forget key mapping/binding!
Until you can put the left joystick where it belongs I'll never use an XBox controller. So awkward compared to the DS controller and the PC DS clones (Like Logitech).

Be it consoles or computer I always bought the basic stuff and the only "issue" would be, over decades, to have lost 2 controllers and 2 keyboards/mouse, and it was my fault they went broken. I never understood how much those expensive one brought more to justify their price (compared to the basic one). So I wanna say the "minimum 150" is wrong...in my personal experience at least.

Yunnlith: That's a good point, but then I do not think paying 150 if you're left-handed or disabled is fair. :p
I suppose, but it's still better than not being able to enjoy your favorite games at all ( or at least not comfortably ).

I do wonder if that price point is even remotely justified. The controller is supposedly made from much higher quality materials, but still, I expect the price to drop after they sold the initial batch to the "hardcore" gaming crowd.

CharlesGrey: I heard the new MS controller can be customized for left-handed or disabled people, so it does have its applications, aside from rich "hardcore pro-gamers". :P

rtcvb32: Hmmm i'm reminded i wrote a script which does translations for any pad/stick to other key configurations, so technically any controller will do, but a number of games/programs don't allow reconfiguration of the key set...

The only problem doing it that way, is the disconnect between the prompts you see on the screen and what you're using. It's that very disconnect that prevented me from playing Ring Runner for a year... Until i got a wireless hub so i could actually connect my 360 controllers to the computer.
Another problem with that approach is, that it probably wouldn't work on consoles at all. ( Unless they manage to haxx0r the hard and/or software, which would be far beyond the reach of the average gamer. )

I wonder to what extent VR technology and new input forms will benefit disabled gamers. They're developing all kinds of cool gadgets.

I'll try to address few things I think I might add some usefull info.

AlexZeusMercer: even im a big sony fan this is one hell of revision for x-box controller
but the price at 149$ is a turn off :( only for pro tournament gamers?

would you pick it up after a price cut? for say pc purpose? at 60$ tops..
The controller is hella good one, there is no doubt about it and company by the name www.scufgaming.com/ made busness of creating those controllers long before microsoft annouced thiers.

Does it worth the price? Yes... But take it with the grain of salt... Think about it, do you really need the best controller suited for tournament and pro play while you use it sitting on a chair playing some silly platformer game on your PC?

The price point is almost double that of a correct gen console itself!!!

If you really want a controller to use with a PC I advise you to buy a bluetooth adapter + PS4 controller. It works great and it is the setup I am correctly using. If you need more info just ask, I will be happy to help.

Breja: Yea but... what for? I can play everything just fine with a keyboard and mouse, why waste time getting frustrated with a controller to "master" it? I don't need a controller for anything, I just tried it out and found it inferior and imprecise.
I used to agree with you when I was part of the PC "Master Race" and I laughed at the console "Peasants"... But then I wanted to play some platformer games or ports of some console games that I bought here on GOG... Boy, those games are barely playable with keyboard and mouse!!!

Try to play Prince of Persia (The cell shaded one) or Valdis Story... I am telling you, it is beyond bad and playing Jade Empire or darkside series you truly feel and it wasn't design to be played with keyboard and mouse in mind.

If you have a friend that have a Xbox one/360 or PS4 controller I advise you to try for yourself how much better it makes the gaming experience, you will not be disappointed I can guarantee you.

I played PoP (all of them in fact) with keyboard and mouse, and don't remember having any issues. In fact if ever I had any issues with a keyboard+mouse controls, it's becuase they were poorly implemented, not because the game could not be played well with them by definition.

Now, certain games probably might by better with a controler, but those are the types of games I rarely play (or not at all). I mostly play point & click adventure games, strategy games and RPGs. Then some FPS and TPP games. I don't spend nearly enough time with platformers to get any good with a controler (and I play 0 racing or fighting games), so trying to use it would be sheer frustration. And even for some platformers I do play I'm not sure how much I'd like a controler, even if I was better with it. I can't imagine using the wizards powers in Trine quickly and effectively without a mouse.

I remember trying to play the PoP games on my PS2... got brand new shiny copies before Sony gave up support and sales for their old hardware. I had trouble because the controller options wouldn't let me invert the camera/movement controls. Honestly you get used to down being up, then a game forces up to be up, then down to be up and...

God! Everyone adopt the same damn button layout/configuration!!!... *sigh*

Well looks like you might not really need a controller because of your game preferences but I highly recommend that you give it a try by taking one of your friends controllers for a spin. It might open you up to types of games you previously locked yourself out because of preferences, but who knows.... Time changes and you might like some new game types. It really might change your mind.

And I believe you didn't had any problems is because you did not know any other option. Playing the PoP games with a controller makes the game score higher by at least 1 star imo.

BTW, I think you picked one of the few platformer examples that are better played with a mouse by saying "Trine" XD
